2. Sorry Chief -Way more than 100,000
Police Chief Charles H. Ramsey, noting that organizers had hoped to draw 100,000 people, said, “I think they probably hit that.”

5. I like Chief Ramsey
He isn't gonna touch any numbers since the Million Man March brouhaha.

The police did their job today, they were mellow, they laughed off those Black Bloc anarchist assholes, and they avoided any thuggishness or meanspiritedness. Of course, most of them want their brother and sister cops, many of whom have been called up to reserve duty, back home, too.

8. Chief Ramsey: folks exercising 1st Amendment rights is what it's all about
That was his message today on all the local radio & tv shows when asked if he expected violence/trouble. He said absolutely no and was very emphatic about his belief in the 1st amendment.

He's a good man.

4. My problem with the protest
Too many groups .

You do yourself no favor when you have so many different groups asking for so many different things.

This was an anti war protest. We are diluting our message with too many other issues being pumped into the protest.

6. The concert was fantastic
And there are more events planned for the next two days. That business was just the warmup.

10. I understand but that's what got the huge numbers

If we really want to be inclusive (like the America that we dream about) that means there will be people who have a different view on some issue but are united in their feelings against the war.
