What is climateprediction.net?

Climateprediction.net is the largest experiment to try and produce a forecast of the climate in the 21st century. To do this, we need people around the world to give us time on their computers - time when they have their computers switched on, but are not using them to their full capacity.

NOTE: This is a legitemate experiment, and it will NOT screw up your computer- it's merely a distributed-computing program that works in the background and does not affect the operation of your computer. I should know- I run it on two of my computers.

Other well-known experiments related to the core software include SETI@HOME, which has been running on computers around the world for several years.

Climateprediction's huge data files have a tendency to corrupt after many days of crunching.

Don't bother with seti, they ran out of new data long ago.
