We are having tornadoes and wind from this hurricane
and it is pretty bad right now here in Arkansas. We have been hearing the tornado sirens go off most of the night. It's pretty scarey. Anybody else affected by this tonight?

5. thanks
I stepped outside to see what was going on a few minutes ago and the wind is really whipping the trees around and it's only about 20-25 miles an hour. I was trying to imagine 100 plus winds:scared:

2. Not me...But my heart
is with you. I am in the north east, and I know the fear winter winds can bring. No power, and ead up cold. Storing water does no good if the stuff freezes.
I wish you well.Hold on tight!

3. Sorry Blue_Roses. I'm in California, but I have to
tell you when I lived in Middle America the tornadoes scared me more than any earthquake here and I have been through many big ones, both here and in South America. Do what you need to do to be safe and my thoughts are with you.

4. I'll send my good thoughts your way
We are forecast for squalls (?), however, we are having some steady rain and wind.
A few trees down in town, but so far not really bad.
Hope things get better for y'all tonight.

6. All the best to you in Arkansas
We got very strong winds here in Central Texas today, but I know that East Texas got absolutely hammered. I hope you all make it through the storm safely.

7. Is it still raining there?
Edited on Sat Sep-24-05 10:17 PM by Blue_Roses
We got our first down-pour about 5 and it really rained hard. I had gone to get groceries earlier and had forgot cat food, so here I was out getting cat food when it started. :eyes:

8. Believe it or not, not a single drop. We prepared for a foot or more.
The high pressure kept it out of the area. It was extremely windy, but still reached 100F. It was surreal, knowing what was happening a few hundred miles to our east/northeast. Very strange. We've got many evacuees here, in homes and schools, who are wondering what's happened to their homes. Many are from Beaumont, Port Arthur, etc. The first reports are not good, at all.

10. It is a surreal feeling
knowing that this system was spinning around in the gulf yesterday and now it's remnants affect so much inland.

Hope things are better for you now. Stay safe:)

11. Did you have much damage?
I can't imagine having 100+ winds after listening to these tonight. The weather forcaster said the "middle" is close to passing over, so the winds are picking up.

I may need to sign off for a while.

14. all day yesterday and started again this morning
My weather radio has been going off every ten minutes this morning and the TV weather people have taught me more about doppler radar than I care to know. I live in Jackson, Ms. and for some reason we seem to repel tornadoes. They are springing up all around and missing us, so far. One person killed last night in Belzoni( about 40 mi. N. of Jackson). Got my house papers, candles,5 gal of h2o and Chef Boy R Dee stashed in the hallway. This is just not fun.

17. Wow. Here in Dallas we had some rather gusty winds yesterday
but they died down by late evening. The weathermen said winds here gusted over 40mph, not completely unusual but I bet they were even higher than that. It seemed that way anyhow.

19. Stay safe! You have my sympathies. I have only been affected by one
tornado in my life, but it was a doozy - Xenia, OH April 3, 1974, the only F5 ever in the US. Destroyed our town, and was WAY too close to our neighborhood for comfort.

22. Wasn't too horrendous in sw ark/ne texas...
Hope you made it through okay! We had rain squalls and wind gusts for about 6 hours then it tapered down ... surprisingly no tornado sirens went off. Went driving through some of it and that was enough for me. The worst of it floated a bit east of us, I believe.
