flattering reporting
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/25/politics/25protest.html?hp&ex=1127707200&en=39b41a1b5721a762&ei=5094&partner=homepage

I thought this was a very good representation of today's activities. I was relieved the nyt glossed over the anti-Israeli part. :)

1. Wow - I've been online all day reading everything - and this is
the first time I've heard about the "anti-Israel" part.

3. I'm surprised that is all. I don't know what you are talking about. Is

it anti-Israel to be against the war? Or were there actually anti-Israeli signs and protests.

Not everything about this war is about Israel. Sometimes people just have feelings about something - and though it may not be in Israel's best interest - there you go.

Juggling ideas and dreams and not putting what is best for Israel at the top happens. At times it will happen.

4. of course it isn't anti-Israeli to be against the war
its just that ANSWER chose to dilute their message with anti-Israeli stuff, and I am glad the the NYT didn't report it. thats all

6. The fact of the matter is that Israelis were well aware that with the
fall of Apartheid, Palestinian issues would hit the top of the list as social justice types changed focus.

Israel expected this. It is what happens when you haven't gotten a peace. It goes with war and no negotiated settlement. As soon as Israel has peace & palestinians choice - the focus will move on to somewhere else.

I sympathize with anyone dealing with terrorists. I really do. However - someone like Sharon has worked hard to keep things on an uneven keel - so that time would pass - and some settlements would be considered more legit - because a generation or two had lived there.

Though I am no politician - I do understand the need to have the best "situation" when negotiations finally do take place. I understand that intellectually. I understand what it must be like to govern from a position of fear.

Anger directed at Israel is as predictable as a hurricane. The powers that be there.. knew this and decided to hold the line and push for more settlements (perhaps as a negotiation tool). So I have a hard time feeling sorry for people who knew their policies were not going to be popular - and then whine about it when they prove to not be popular.

Get with peace - and then whine.

7. for the record I'm not even pro-israli so get off my back dude
I know they screwed up and continue to screw up, that wasn't why I posted that link. I really do sympathize with the palestinian people. I remeber hearing a report about Israli troops baiting kids into throwing rocks at them, which gave the troops the legal authority to kill them...which they did. I heard that late one night on NPR. so thanks I think I'll now take my opportunity to "whine"

8. Why were they even there? Do wee need bodies that badly?
I mean it is almost like that routine freekper joke on the online petitions. You visit a petition to ask politely that Israel do something about the Palestian's needs, and you find that half the petition is taken up with names like Rudolf Hess, Herman Goering, Ilsa Koch etc.

And since this was televised, that dosn't mean it wasn't noticed. The fact that the Times decided to bury it probably makes it worse. My brother is married to a Jewish lady, and she is very sensitive to this. She wants to pack up and go to Israel whenever she sees this kind of thing. To parapharse her remarks from last night "They march around saying 'the Jews did this, the Jews did that and everyone is afriad of them and won't talki about them.... I mean they have their Bush=Hitler signs, but I don't see Bush tellilng people that the Jews are killling babies, but them, I see all over."

So ANSWER needs to answer the question of just who are they involved with, and are they (tin foil firmly on) just Rovian plants to embarass the Anti War effort.
