Pictures from the Rally.
Edited on Sun Sep-25-05 05:37 AM by mutley_r_us
I must have taken about 150 pictures yesterday, but here are a few of the best ones. I'll probably post more in another thread but I didn't want to load this one up too much so dial-uppers can see it. Edit: I actually posted them in the Lounge.

A tiny Freeper group! People circled around this guy and shouted things like "the war is a lie!" and "murderers!" and all the while the guy with the bullhorn just kept telling us that everyone is the devil. :eyes:

1. I always love the ones that hold the bible in the air...........
like it's empirical evidence that cannot be denied. It will shield them from any "evil-doers" and protect them from all harm... :eyes: What's wrong with these people? They put their blinders on and refuse to listen to reason, instead putting their entire lives in a state of suspended animation because of a book written by men to control the masses and keep the social order in check. They refuse to question anything within the book, it is sacrosanct.
How can they not see the folly of this? No other proof exists that those events contained within the book happened, they're taking someone else's (a 2000 year old someone else) word for everything. Yet they see nothing suspicious about this and remain totally loyal to the book. :eyes: I don't get it, never have and never will. Why do people have such a will to believe in SOMETHING, ANYTHING rather than what their eyes and ears tell them? Sometimes it makes me want to cry, these people are in such a state of mental arrested development.

Everyone was the devil, to them, including the government.

12. Just because you are a believer of
the book and everything doesn't mean you can use it to remain ignorant of what is happening in your own life and your own lifetime. This guy is living in a total black and white world. I betcha he probably doesn't even read his Bible because if he did he would not be supporting war. Jesus himself said "turn the other cheek" and "love thy neighbor".

Show me the passage that says, "Bomb thy neighbor."

I don't know what bible the fundies read, but the one I read must be different.

7. Welcome to DU, DaveColorado. I agree,
When did the amended version of "Thou shalt not kill." first appear?

14. What is really sad
is they want the Ten Commandments everywhere. No where in the Bible did God say to put the commandments everywhere. He stated to put them on your heart and mind. And yes "thou shalt not kill" includes people who don't like you. They want the commandments up everywhere in this country but turn around and support war and killing of Muslims. :eyes:

10. Agreed.
Fundies pervert the Bible... I'm not religious, but their treatment of it is disgusting... it is fiction, for gosh sakes!

4. Even though I saw virtually no anti-American sentiment.
The only real anti-American talk I heard was from the freepers. They were saying "the government is the devil," and "the people you work for are the devil," and just going through the list of pretty much everyone.

be quick to even call their own mother the devil if she told him he was wrong about something. :eyes:

6. Everytime I see the crosses I feel an overwhelming sadness
for the lives lost and lives changed forever all due to this administrations greed and incompetency.

May all those souls rest in peace.

8. It was a very somber part of the rally.
Everyone I saw had the utmost respect for the troops; alive or dead.

20. mutley_r_us..I'm so glad the freepers didn't
damage or disrupt that display, I was expecting it after what that man did to the crosses in Crawford and some idiots did to the crosses displayed in Toledo recently. Breaks my heart they have so little regard for those they send to fight their wars.

Great pics..thanks for posting them.

25. The freepers were suprisingly well behaved this time.
The ones I posted were the loudest that I saw. It makes me sick how they claim to support the troops then feel it is okay to destroy a memorial to them just because it was made by 'our side'.

18. Kinda curious... Was anyone able to get aerial shots over DC?
I'd kind of like to get the "Forest Gump" view of what Washington DC might have looked like from the air to see the full scope of how many people were there. I would hope at least one saavy photographer had thought to get these sorts of photos and get flying permits, etc. Though I suppose with restricted air space around there, it might have been hard to do. Maybe if someone got them from the top of the Washington Monument or the like.

23. Someone posted one from C-Span of the Elipse and the
surrounding streets. It looked like there were thousands and thousands of people. I'll see if I can find it.

24. Oh yes, there were a lot of families.
One family had this really cute little girl holding a sign that said peace, and she was just smiling and waving it around. I didn't get a picture because i didn't know if they'd be happy about that.
