McCain just said polls he's seen, Americans support war
This was on the Stephanopolous show....What the fuck planet does this asshole live on?????? NO POLL has shown that Americans support this war. NONE. By the way, this remark went totally unchallenged.

2. He lives in
Na-NA land, where all the delusional neocons go on "vacation" and end up staying for the rest of their lives... they live in a dream form of reality, like 1984--"War is Peace," etc...

God, Orwell was a flucking genius... bless him...

3. Perhaps he is talking about polls of elected members. Many did
not support the war Bush chose. And they certainly didn't support being lied into it. They support it now - only because if they cannot get some semblance of stability - we will all be back there fighting a World War in 2 years.

The one here that we were unalble to de-Freep. I can't think of any other poll ever that showed support for the poll - at least within the past 9 months.

Call me old fashioned, I expect the truth from elected assholes.
If they lie, I expect them to be challenged. McCain just smiled and Stephenopoulis let it slide. He could have named poll after poll that proved him wrong. But no.......

23. I want truth - I'm just not going to get it from certain people
McCain is a liar was my point.I'd like to see him jailed for his lies ....and not just him.

Now, my ideal government would jail elected officials for lying...and throw them out of office. Bar them from ever holding office again and a hefty fine to top it off.

My ideal media would be to fire those "journalists" who don't challenge the lies or who spread lies themselves...and fine them as well.

I'm not one of those people who think lying is "politics as usual" - the only reason it is "usual" is because the people have tolerated it and they feel helpless ot change it.

17. McCain had the misfortune
of being shot down while performing duty to God and Country. He showed courage in surviving the years as a POW. Certainly he is honorable in that respect.

OTOH it is the best thing that ever happened to him as it launched him into the national spotlight.

As a war veteran myself I would never have dreamed of saying this until I saw the way in which Kerry was trashed.

28. Point Taken... BUT...
Live survey, quick vote, whatever....
How many here are contacted by "legitimate" polls?

I get tapped by Zogby...unless it is about the president's performance, then they don't show up in my email. Coincidence? I doubt it, likely they are not sending out THAT poll to proclaimed democrats. I did test my suspicion and started claiming to be Independent in the past couple polls I've done for them..guess what, now I'm getting the Zogby polls asking how the president is doing. I don't know how or why they chose to send polls out, I just know I don't get to take a good many and am curious why. Random, selected? Only they know for sure.

Are we to actually TRUST polls? Especially those done by "the Media"?
Who owns them, what is their agenda? Who paid for the poll? Who interpreted the data? Who did they select to poll and why? And on and on.

I don't think controllling the media is enough, the "Right" also likes to manipulate the polls so that they can TELL us what WE think. It's all part of the package.

I won't say exactly how because I don't want to encourage anyone but it can be done very easily.

26. I could also probably find web polls where 90% oppose the war.
Look at any scientific poll on pollingreport.com and you will see that the war is very unpopular.

25. He's just as bad as the rest on polls and public opinion.
You could present poll data from 50 polls, and 49 of them could show bad news for the Repugs. But throw in one poll, asked only of RNC leadership, incoming freshmen at Liberty University, and folks just exiting one of Shrub's pep rallies, and McCain et al will hold up no. 50 and declare "everyone loves us!"

That's why we're in the mess we're in. Instead of looking at evidence and intelligence data and then form an opinion and plan of action, this bunch will make a decision based solely on pre-conceived notions, then go look for data and info that supports them. Trumpet what you want to hear, ignore everything else.
