Boston radio Hosts off air for two weeks More White Male racist radio
http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2003/10/07/hosts_off_air_for_two_weeks/

Faced with searing criticism from parents and political officials, WEEI yesterday suspended prominent radio hosts John Dennis and Gerry Callahan for two weeks for comparing an escaped gorilla to a Metco student waiting for a bus.

The suspensions were announced on the same day that one of the station's advertisers, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts, announced that it would pull $27,000 in advertising from the station and donate the money to Metco, the voluntary desegregation program that places Boston children in suburban schools.

The remarks by Dennis and Callahan were made during a news segment of the program on Sept. 29, as the two hosts bantered about a gorilla that had escaped from the Franklin Park Zoo. "Yeah, yeah, he was a Metco gorilla," Dennis said.

"Heading out to Lexington," Callahan replied.

"Yeah, exactly," Dennis said.

<snip>

Metco executive director Jean McGuire said she has tried to get the station to address a talk radio culture that she calls a "white male club."

1. I listen to them a lot on my morning drives
Callahan is actually the worst one. It is a sprots talk show but they often get into politics and Callahan is the most unoriginal Conservative out there. He spouts the talking points like no one else. Why did they think that was funny? Just stupid.

2. Callahan is so awfule it's incredible.
i dont knwo why they even call its sports related... they only time they talk sports is when they have a guest, other than that it is typically just a rehash of whatever Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity happened to be talking about the day before. I sent a nice letter to Entercom (weei's parent company) demanding that these two be removed permanently.
