My letter in tomorrow's NYTimes!!! (Re: Safire, Leak-gate)
Just got another LTE accepted by the Times. I think this makes 7 or 8 now over the last few years. A fairly edgy one this time, too, relative to the limits of what I think they'll accept. Getting pretty good at hitting that mark, I guess.

Here 'tis:

To the Editor:
Despite William Safire's witty disquisition on ``leakmanship'' (``Who's Shallow Throat?,'' column, Oct. 6), I remain confused. Either former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV's original report about the Niger yellowcake story was accurate, or it wasn't.

If it was, the administration certainly should have wanted to know about it. If it wasn't, someone should be able to present empirical evidence to the contrary.

Attacking the messenger -- or his wife -- amounts to nothing more than an effort to muddy the waters.

That the administration has been reduced to such tactics only demonstrates that the facts are not susceptible to legitimate dispute. It also bespeaks a moral cowardice and a petty vindictiveness that puts the true character of the administration and its apologists on display.

...though they never promise--you can always get bumped. But that has never happened to me so far.

13. Well, actually
...there are a couple of things. Obviously keeping it short is key, and persistance--I must've sent 5 or 10 for every one I've gotten in. But the hardest part is that it has to have wit but it can't overstep a certain line. You can be pretty harsh but you have to finesse it--they don't like zingers.

11. Congratualtions!!!
I once got a letter to the Sports Editor printed...ranting about the lack of coverage of soccer (The Cosmos).

Not nearly as impressive as one to the main editorial page!!!!

thanks for sharing and congrats. I just got a call from my local paper verifying I wrote an LTE on the same subject. It'll be my 4th letter published in a little over a year. Here's a toast to our efforts and let's all keep working that drip.
