Our local orgs organized a pro-peace concert, in addition to sending a number of folks to Washington, D.C.; but the concert was indoors, and some of us felt the need to get out and be more visible.
So, within less than four days, we organized an outdoor protest. About 30 folks showed up, which we thought was pretty good considering (1) Dallas is a v. conservative town, (2) because of hurricane Rita, the forecast was thunderstorms (though not a drop actually fell), and (3) and we had no way of spreading the word except our own e-mails (I talked several times with our local peace orgs, but apparently the people I talked with didn't tell anyone else, although the concert emcee did make an announcement at the concert).
And LOTS of folks driving by honked and thumbs-up'd their support!
Thanks to another Dallas DU'er for showing up!
