Did anyone go see George Galloway speak (in D.C.) last evening?

We did - he is as advertised. He is well spoken, witty, and has an absolute command of facts at his fingertips.

He also despises Christopher Hitchens and Barbara Bush, and the ongoing saga of Mr. Hitchens and his love affair with Pickles was priceless.

This was sponsored by The International Socialist Review - but we went anyway. :) :)

It was also co-sponsored by numerous Arab-American groups, and Mr. Galloway made a strong case in tying the Palestinian struggle into the overall U.S. quest for total domination of the Middle East.

This also explained the presence of Ralph Nader in the audience, but don't make me go into the discussion I had earlier that afternoon (while waiting for a table to open up so we could have lunch) with two Nader voters, who actually believed that Al Gore would have set the same course of action re: Iraq as did Bush.

bullshit line on me I refer to the fact that in 1998 the PNAC outlined the same bullshit Bush argument to invade Iraq.

So if Gore and Clinton were going to do the same course of action as they claim, they had their chance and severe pressure to do so back then AND THEY DID NOT.

4. Galloway is a good speaker, and when speaking about . . .

Bush's Iraq war he has the facts at hand.

Unfortunately, he's not a very credible spokesman to most moderate/right-of-centers because of his reputation for slavish support of Saddam Hussein. With my limited googling, it's hard for me to extract the truth, but he does seem to have some highly unsavory connections.

7. I just purchased his book, which contains his Congressional testimony

in it's entirety.

At first blush, I find many of these reports of unsavory connections to be coming from rather dubious sources, but I still have much research work to do on the subject. As with many polarizing figures, the truth may lie somewhere in the middle, although I think it's closer to the left. :)

I felt it important, however, to hear the man speak in person, and to form an initial (albeit limited) opinion based on seeing/meeting him.
