Government Hails Early Response To Rita
http://news.yahoo.com/fc/world/tropical_storms_and_hurricanes

Hey everybody. The little emperor wants us all to applaud him now because he DIDN'T fuck this one up! Great, georgie! You did your fucking job for once without having to be hovered over like a teacher hovering over a D student. What an ass. Yeah, georgie, you got this one right after you totally screwed up the first one and caused so many to lose their lives. What a dipshit! :grr:
<snip>
WASHINGTON - The government's emergency coordinators on Sunday credited better stockpiling of supplies, early evacuations and more military muscle for saving lives during Hurricane Rita as President Bush pushed to give the Pentagon a larger role in future disasters.

American consumers also got good news as early reports indicated little damage to the Gulf Coast's refineries, crude oil prices dropped and the White House economic adviser predicted only a temporary hit from Rita.

From the buzz of Navy helicopters plucking citizens from rooftops to ample truckloads of water and food, the Bush administration sought to contrast its response this weekend to the failed actions in the hours and days after Hurricane Katrina.

"Our response operation is in full swing," said R. David Paulison, acting director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, "The coordination and smooth preparation for this hurricane has been absolutely phenomenal". :eyes:

5. they are either desperate as hell or very, very stupid. or both.
"...as President Bush pushed to give the Pentagon a larger role in future disasters."

Um. It's called being called the Commander in Chief AND having the Stafford Act which allows active duty military deployed in a Presidentially Declared Disaster area "to protect life and property" for ten days after the declared disaster, longer with further congressional approval.

Bush discovers own navel!

6. Not to minimize
the damage done in Tx., La. and elsewhere, but the bozo had a bit of help this time from Mother Nature, since the winds were well below those of Katrina. Do you know the difference between apples and orages, Chimpy?

8. As long as hurricanes come within Gov. attention span of two weeks,
we're good. Add the fact it lands away from the major urban center, and by golly.....

But like the promises to look into evacuations after 9/11, this negligent government and its state and local wards will just drop it.
