Freeps wishing they had their very own Cindy Sheehan
To: California Patriot

We need a Cindy Sheehan like personality that will draw the news media. Can't be a copy of Sheehan, has to be completely different but someone who they will flock to to have our message told.

Good idea. A respectable version of Cindy Sheehan, on our side.

They're generally very depressed about their low turnout.

To: Txsleuth

All these are good points that should be made to the media every time they are covering a protest, and/or counter-protest.

However, a disapointing turnout is still a disapointing turnout. Our organizers shouldn't be talking big to the media about how many people WILL or MAY show up at a rally. Conservatives are not demonstrators or activists by nature. Many undoubtedly chicken out at the last minute, or are distracted, or whatever. It is something that we need to overcome, and perhaps are, however gradually.

I disagree with the other poster who used the tired, self-righteous, completely unproductive excuse that "our people have jobs." I'm sure many Rats who demonstrate have jobs too. Say what you want about them, they're not lazy. I'm not saying that we should be calling in sick to work. I am saying that giving up a weekend, or half of one, if you live within driving distance of a major FReep-type event is not a big sacrifice once or twice a year.

To rely on the "we have jobs" excuse on a weekend is a poor, poor substitute for the Spirit of 1776, to which we owe our entire country. It also must sound pretty hollow to the men and women who are putting their lives on the line in Iraq.

24. Most of what Conservatism can render is the oxymoron of politically
inspired apathy. Sure, there are Pro-Lifers who get ran around in circles, but what's it all about, fewer taxes and the ideal of "less government." (So, that corporations can coerce state governments) But, do Republicans really care about certain things? They think they need their SUVs, and become reactionary when a Liberal brings up concern regarding gasoline consumption.

There is apathy and wedge issues. No real substance. College Republican douchebags have nothing better to do, so they host "Affirmative Action Bakesales" and "Straight Pride Days." :eyes:

That would be the opposing action on their parts to Cindy.

Cindy wants them home. They want our troops in harms way.

Just got a call from our friends who lost their son in Iraq. They walked over to Ms. Sheenan and pulled out the cross and ripped up their son's picture they had on it. They told her that she doesn't speak for them - they said it made them feel better.

Sorry freeptards, but I'm calling bullshit on this one. What mother would tear up a picture of her own son?

Well on second thought, if she was a freeper she might...

How sad for her son, that his own mother would dishonor him in this way.

18. I call bullshit too
The only crosses that were anything more than a cross and a name were crosses that had been added to by the families themselves.

At the war yawp rally, there was a speaker that showed that he had gone and taken the cross from the display across the street. Guess he thought he was hurting Cindy by doing that. All he did was stop all those people from paying direct tribute to his own son.

So sad, when you think about it. Keeping all that grief to themselves has to be very lonely.

27. Ummm...Dems have "paid protestors"? 1,000s of non-working students??
One FReep from the same page as the one the OP linked:
I have come to the conclusion that we should find other avenues to support the troops. We can never win in a numbers contest with the left; they have thousands of non-working students and paid political protesters.

Saw several posts re: paid political protesters...*WOW*...maybe I can get a new job!
