I doubt it. Watching this three hour segment with Amy Goodman should convince most sane people that this event is highly successful and positive, an actual milestone!
please be careful about dissing this important event on limited information!

sorry, no link

1. What is Link TV?
And how many Americans-on-the-fence might have seen their coverage?

6. I think it's only on Direct TV - Channel 375
Most people have never seen this channel and most people who don't already agree probably won't watch it but this is pretty much the only channel I really watch (except for Comedy Central at 11:00).

4. Since when has the main stream media been a reliable source of info?
Edited on Sun Sep-25-05 10:31 PM by BrklynLiberal
LINK TV is Channel 9410 on DISHTV

Maybe people should demand that it be a part of their cable package.

FREESPEECH TV Channel 9410 on DISHTV is also excellent. It carries Democracy Now! and other excellent shows that you don't see on the other mainstream cable channels.

Free Speech TV is available in over 25 million U.S. homes -- airing 24 hours a day on DISH Network Channel 9415 and part-time on 140 community access cable stations in 30 states.

there is something going on here that is very weird. Linktv has been around for at least a year now...and i find it hard to believe that so many hear never heard of it, and yet they quote Fox news verbatim. I hope the sane people come back soon.

10. I don't think anybody says ANSWER ruined the MARCH
Or for that matter, the day.

A billion words have been posted today on this subject, so I'll try not to stay on this too long...

The only reason ANSWER ruined the day is because their 3-hour ranting about Mumia and The Cuban 5 was the ONLY thing to be shown on any regular media outlet. Sorry, LinkTV is not a regular media outlet. I've spoken to people who were there, and every single one of them expresses the same thing...If they caught any of the rally at all, few who I spoke to bothered to stay. The rally was relatively small compared to the size of the march. The march was seen by all as uplifting and positive in almost every way. The march was SUCCESSFUL.

The beef is about the rally, and how ANSWER muddled the message. So, LinkTV viewers got one version, and it was hosted by Amy Goodman, and narrated, and they showed the march.

But no one else in America did. NO ONE. Not one bit of video of the march was seen by ANYONE on any national media. The rest of the nation without whatever LinkTV is had only one chance to see this uplifting and monumental day, and instead they got three hours of FREE MUMIA! , anti-Israel propaganda, and a host of other issues.

Again, ANSWER didn't ruin the march. They blew the chance to air the grievances so many people thought they had gone to DC to protest, and in the process gave lots of fodder for the right to dismiss us all as discombobulated kooks.

17. I watched on c-span
and although I appreciate them airing the event, I wish they would have covered the march as well.

c-span covered the march during the NY RNC convention this past fall, and I recorded the last 4 hours. I still get goose bumps watching all the people who showed up. It was thrilling to watch the thousands upon thousands of people chanting, cheering and jeering.

And one of the most interesting thing about it, I thought was amusing is when people passed by fox news (their office is on the street where the march took place), you could hear people chanting "fox news sucks", "fuck fox news", and "fox news lies".

Maybe we could start an email campaign to c-span and ask them to start covering the marches as well.

Lastly if we started having more and more protests, perhaps it would force the MSM to have to cover it so they can see what reality looks like.

14. I don't think ANSWER ruined anything
But CSPAN ruined it, IMHO, for not airing the big crowd and for staying fixed on the ANSWER rally, and I'd probably think that no matter whose rally they stayed on. CSPAN missed the whole thing; by the time they cut out, there were only a handful of people in front of the ANSWER stage.

So, to me it wasn't so much about ANSWER, but about CSPAN and limited coverage. I did watch it on LINK TV, and then thanks to a DUer here, found a link online to watch Amy Goodman and Laura Flanders. That was great. They were so calm, cool, collected and right on with the message surrounding them.

Sadly, though, a lot of people don't get LINK TV, and likely would bypass it to see football or Rita coverage. For me, it was coverage I had to seek for, hunt out. Not many in mainstream America are gonna' seek this stuff out. They have to have it spoon fed to them. That's why I was bitchen' yesterday about the lack of coverage from CSPAN and MSM. Even this morning, on The Week, Stephanopolis showed a clip of an aerial view for like 2 seconds.

All the news I watched today, including CNN, HNN, MSNBC and Faux (yack--only running thru the channels) had Rita over and over, showing the same footage of that horrible natural disaster again and again. Don't get me wrong, Rita coverage is important (I have family in NOLA and Houston), but we can all multitask, can't we?!

15. My gripe is the demand that our Democrats must go or be damned.
Anyone who has watched these rallies by ANSWER knows what is coming. We forgot to turn to LINK or FSTV, thus we only saw the speeches by everybody and his brother on every subject in the world.

There was no march shown at all.

I am offended highly at all the people here who keep attacking our Democratic leaders for not going. I don't blame them.

What symbolman said.

19. How many people even get Link TV?
Edited on Mon Sep-26-05 08:43 AM by mandyky
Those of us upset with ANSWER are upset because their event was the one covered on CSpan which many Americans do get.

I never claimed ANSWER ruined the whole event, and don't recall other people saying that. Our big problem is the media coverage or lack of it, and the MSM being controlled by BushCo. We have 54% of Americans now wondering about the feasibilty of Iraq, but when they get the Rush spin about the Commies, and Hannity saying the peace movement is anti-Israel, probably anti-semetic, and Bill O'reilly doing his take about America hating peacemongers, etc, the new could be protesters will think twice about signing on.

I was still tossing and turning last night over how our peace movement will be covered this week. The ANSWER FRINGE groups did not help. TorqueDeville over at Daily Kos did a good diary on this.

21. Saw it, music, interviews. Amy Goodman hosted simply great
Link TV has PSA endorsements by Willie Nelson, Cher, others. World Music, Middle east TV news highlights, they had a very amazing documentary on Waco, in 2004 had counter programming to the swift boaters. Democracy Now is shown twice a day. Their simply great.
