Sgt. James Wright, who received the Bronze Star Medal with valor device from Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, salutes during the national anthem at the June 1, 2004 presentation ceremony in front of the Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Va. Wright lost both hands and suffered a severe wound to his leg when his vehicle was struck by an enemy rocket-propelled grenade in Iraq's Anbar province. Despite his wounds, Wright continued to lead the Marines in his charge.

2. just wondering how in the world he is supposed to do his job, minus his

hands? can he hold a rifle, punch buttons, etc?

3. I don't believe he is an active duty soldier anymore. . .

though it would be nice if our military could find a productive place for men such as Sgt. Wright, if they desire it. In the picture, he's shown at the "presentation ceremony" in the Summer of 2004, where he received his Bronze Star with Valor -- I imagine that was his last day on "active" duty.

7. There are many jobs in the military that don't require the use of

rifles. And as for punching buttons, etc., there is an amazing amount of ergonomic equipment out there which allow people with physical limitations to NOT be limited. For instance, voice-activated software has really come a long way from the early versions, and can be used by people with all kinds of limitations. So there is plenty this man can do, both in and out of the military.
