Did you see tonight season premire ofr ABCs EHM. They built a Soldier a new home,the Soldier was a medic who had his leg blown off in Iraq while delivering supplys to Iraqys. Last season they built homes for 2 Iraq Soldiers one of which was for the kids of the girl who was killed the night Jessica Lynch was ambushed....

Is this show trying to send a political statement or just showing genuine compassion for those who give it their all???

Regardless of how one feels about the Iraq war (or any war), the men and women who are in the middle of it, as well as their families, deserve compassion and support (and yes, so do we all). And the flag they hoisted from Iraq, well, it seemed to me that that meant a lot to the soldier and his family.

Personally, I love this show! And the ones that focus on military fols, well, I think that is just another way to acknowledge the personal sacrifices they make.

The show was presented in good taste, but there is something really wrong with the whitewash of the Iraq war crime.

12. It's a home show (well, a lot more than that)

not a political show. I think it would be inappropriate in the context of the show to make statements about the war. And they take these families as they are -- their focus is about making their lives better. And I read that this year, they are going to do more in helping out communities, which is totally cool.

I thought about Extreme Home Makeover in connection with LA and Ms, and now TX, but right now, in many areas, building is down the list from cleaning up. But hey, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't do something there.

I'm happy for any real help that is given to our returning soldiers. This is more of a left thing to do than a rightwing thing anyway. The right just wants them over there fighting and dying for George and pretty much ignores them when they come home. They will probably complain that ABC is trying to be anti-war by showing a soldier who has had his leg blown off. They don't want America to see that kind of thing.

Of course it's political. More red-staters watch this tripe than blue. They are playing to their Neilson base. I'm all for being nice to vets, even if they haven't lost a limb, but this is blatant flag-waving for flag-wavers

It's tripe to help people who need it, be they soldier or civilian? Good grief, we piss and rant and rave about the freeptards who are all hat and no cattle, who drive around with their big SUV's with magnetic yellow ribbons who love their tax cuts at the expense of the soldiers and the civilians who need help, and now you want to turn around and call "tripe" a show that actually DOES some good! Sorry, I don't get it. This show, and groups like the one shown on tonights show, who help remodel homes for returning soldiers who have disabilities, are probably doing more for the soldiers than * and the Pentagon. I don't see anything "tripe" about that.

You know, for a long time I lost my flag, lost my feeling of patriotism, almost felt embarassed about feeling love for this country, messed up as she is right now, because all that stuff had been co-opted by the freeptards. But guess what, screw 'em! This is my country too, and I'm reclaiming those things for myself. Are you rejecting this show because sometimes they help soldiers, and there are references to bravery, the flag, etc? Maybe that's behind your reaction; I don't know.

I'm not trying to say you should like the show; if it's not to your taste, fine. But calling it "tripe" because there are soldiers and flags on some of the shows just doesn't make sense to me.

By the way, most of the people I know who love this show are the Bluest of the Blue.

10. Any time a soldier gets injured be it max clealand, this guy, or someonne

else i think it's the government job to do what they can to repay him or her for that sacrifice. My uncle Don lost his arm in the service in viet nam and not only did he get squat the freepers toilet papered his house when he wrote a letter to the florida sun against the war in iraq.
I dont watch the show, I dont care about the medics political affiliation, if someone makes a veteran a happy than more power to the giver. And hopefully people will see the soldiers sacrifice and put a stop to this damnable immoral war before another one of or sons and daughters comes back an amputee or worse.

11. QUEER EYE'S Done Two Soldier Episodes, Too

One remaking a home of a returning vet who was wheelchair-bound (but had a chance to walk), and even more poignantly of a vet who was about to ship out, giving him and his wife a wedding and him all the various things he needed to survive.

Funny how, with these shows, people have learned more about the hardship of families than anything Dear Leader and his Lemmings have done -- and THAT'S what makes them political.

13. I saw that episode of Queer Eye where they did the wedding

I thought it was really cool, and a sweet thing for them to do.

My husband and I just did a wedding (cake and flowers) for a young couple; the new husband is getting shipped to Iraq in November. They will be separated at the time of their first wedding anniversary, and the bride wants her husband to be able to have half the cake top on that day, so my husband told them how to best wrap and freeze it so that they could do that. And we both felt good about being able to be a part of their wedding preparations; hopefully we helped contribute to good memories for them to hold on to while he is away.

And everyone needs to get used to seeing them.

I for one think the show is tasteful and they have a real knack for picking very deserving, selfless people for their show.

I think this show is one of the few places on TV where we DO see wounded vets, and acknowledgement of the death of military personnel and the effects on their family, like when they did the show at the end of last season on Jessica Lynch's friend (and excuse me for referring to her that way; I could not recall how to spell the dead woman's name. Piestewa, I think. Not trying to diminish her). In fact, I think it was wonderful what they did on that show, particularly the special room for Lori's stuff that her family can go into, and her children can "know" her, and the veteran's center they built for the Native American vets.

It was especially moving that they took the time to find out about the traditions of the tribes in the area, took time to get to know the Code Talkers, and incorporated the traditions into both the home and the veteran's center. That's not flag waving, that's genuine compassion and caring in action.
