Can anyone explain how occupying Iraq protects our freedoms?
Seems as though the pro-war moms at these counter-protests ALWAYS claim that our troops are fighting to protect our freedoms, however, I can't remember any of them being asked to explain what they are talking about.

3. well you see, they are keeping Saddam from invading the mainland.
And imposing the Ba'ath regime in the US. You see, Saddam was poised to do that just before we attacked. His ships were right outside New York.

5. Depends on the freedoms. It protects the freedom to drive an SUV,
the freedom to have everything made in plastic (plastic comes from oil), the freedom to live in the south and have your air conditioning on 60 delgrees. The freedom to fly any where and anytime - if you not on the no-fly list. The freedom to be 5% of the worlds population but spend 40% of the world's oil every year. The freedom to invade other countries and take their oil. The freedom to have a debit economy with others paying for it but because oil is traded in oil you win.

Those freedoms.

7. I used to automatically think
of this bit from the Foremen song "Saddam Shame:"

We were fighting for freedom, that much is for sure
Freedom from running our cars on manure

...but with gas at $3-plus and most likely going higher, that doesn't seem to work anymore.
