Bush is trying to get Israel to send the IDF to Iraq
US dollar-diplomacy may have paid off in Turkey vote

http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N06368741.htm

WASHINGTON, Oct 7 (Reuters) - Turkey's approval of peacekeepers for Iraq has put a spotlight on a key component of Bush administration policy -- dollar-diplomacy.

President George W. Bush pledged $8.5 billion in loans to Turkey in an agreement signed just two weeks before Tuesday's vote in the Turkish parliament, which will help relieve pressure on U.S. troops in Iraq.

Administration officials say there is no direct connection but that the loan deal requires Ankara to cooperate with the United States in Iraq.

Similar aid packages have been put together for Jordan and Israel as well as Pakistan, which like Turkey has been under mounting pressure from Washington to send troops to Iraq.

1. I think this is bad writing.

Pakistan has been under pressure to send troops, but not Israel. Putting Israeli soldiers there would be worse than pouring gasoline on a raging fire -- the more you sent, the more you'd need to send.

On edit, note the singular 'has' in the selection you quoted after Pakistan. It still could have been worded more clearly, though.

4. the regime will probably deploy the Israelis to Syria and Iran

Although Iraq is a possibility, as there are some ultra-right wing religious groups in Israel who interpret the scriptures as God giving part of Iraq to Israel.

One advantage of Israeli troops over Pakistani ones is that where Pakistanis might be somewhat reluctant to kill Iraqi civilians, Israeli forces have demonstrated outstanding skill at this, and would have not compunction about any depopulation operations, that might be a factor with troops from almost any other country.

9. When you say 'deploy,' you mean invade.
I don't see that happening. An invasion of Syria would be fairly easy, but the cleanup afterwards would not. Israel was unable to hold on to its Lebanon position, by way of comparison; Syria would be even more difficult, since there is no proxy army waiting to do its dirty work, as the SLA was waiting for Israel in Lebanon. Israel's hands are full colonizing the West Bank, as it is.

To get at Iran, Israel would have to go through Jordan and then Iraq, which is simply not going to happen. Iraq would go up in flames -- the Shia have been placid thus far, but that would end as soon as Israeli soldiers appeared on Iraqi territory, especially if they were in transit to Shia Iran. As it always has been, Israel remains a white elephant to the U.S. It's expensive to maintain, and offers essentially no practical return for the billions of dollars and political capital we spend on it every year.

11. they will use more aggressive depopulation methods this time

At the time of the previous annexation operation, world opinion was while not a major factor, still something that received some US consideration.

That is no longer the case.

they are born with the same capacity for useful life as the good people of Gush Shalom and B't Salem :)

Zionist settler joins Iraqi to promote trade

Chalabi's nephew and US lawyer turned rightwing Israeli activist offer help and advice on doing business with Baghdad

The Guardian

An ultra-Zionist Israeli settler has joined forces with the nephew of the Iraqi leader Ahmad Chalabi to promote investment in Iraq.
The venture - which has excellent connections with the Pentagon and the new Iraqi government - is the first joint Israeli-Iraqi business project publicly documented since the fall of Saddam Hussein.

snip

It was established by Salem "Sam" Chalabi, the 40-year-old nephew of Ahmad Chalabi, head of the Iraqi National Congress, a Pentagon favourite and now a prominent member of Iraq's governing council.

Sam Chalabi's "partner for international marketing" is Marc Zell, a rightwing Zionist lawyer who has offices in Jerusalem and Washington and previously ran a legal practice with Douglas Feith - now a leading Pentagon hawk with responsibility for the reconstruction of Iraq.

snip

Like Mr Zell, he (Feith) has argued that Jewish settlements on occupied Palestinian land are lawful and has been promoting the idea of supplying Iraqi oil to Israel via a pipeline.

In 1996 he was one of the authors of the Clean Break document which proposed overthrowing Saddam as the first step towards reshaping Israel's "strategic environment".

2. If IDF Goes To Iraq, Expect WWIII and a Blood Bath

This would anger the Arab world to such an extreme that there is no telling what the fallout may be.

3. No bribe too great for these Bushevik swine
Why not? It's not like it's THEIR money.

Although, in many ways the Imperial Treasury IS in fact, the property of the Emperor.

8. Does Israel have the arms and manpower to commit genocide in Iraq?
Would they be able to effectively remove the Iraqi population through mass execution or forced exodus?

12. They have whatever the US has given or will give them, so yes

It will be necessary to liquidate the enemy population in order to reduce long term personnel needs for securing natural resource facilities.

Who is going to attack the Czech republic?

Allowing Turkish troops into Iraq is almost as stupid as allowing Israeli troops in.

14. The IDF will never go to Iraq

They would become even bigger targets than Americans. Everyone would want to take a shot at them.

16. They will go where they are told to go by the guy who writes their checks

And once there, they will eliminate who they are ordered to eliminate, just like American disposable soldiers are doing.

19. The whole point of keeping assets in Israel is to use them

There is no free lunch.

Surely you didn't think "Israel" was established out of dewy-eyed sympathy for Holocaust survivors?
