My Republican father in law: We need to get out of Iraq!

My SO's parents are conservative republicans. NOT right wingers. Michael was talking to his dad yesterday and his dad made the following statements:

1. The war was a mistake.

2. We need to start pulling out when we can with "dignity". He later admitted that he doesn't think the dignity part will happen.

3. He respects Cindy Sheehan and what Bush made a huge mistake for not meeting with her.

4. The economy is a mess and agrees w/ my SO that we should think about selling our condo and renting for while. He thinks the housing boom will soon crash.

I was very impressed with what he said. This is a man who has picutres of he and Michael's mom with the Bush's. Poppy, Bar, W and Pickles. His dad is a very intellegent man and isn't a "Freeper" but more of a Goldwater type conservative.

When I called MY mom she told my step dad ..."hell frove over" My step dad said, "holy crap. Next thing you know he'll march in the gay pride parade!" My parents are a scream.

4. What's so cool is that they really like me a lot.

I was very nervous when I first met them. They are very cool. No they are far from being Pflag members, but at the family reunion last year, my "mom-in-law" had me and her other sons and daugter in law on stage with her when she was giving out gifts to her kids.

I really love Michael's parents. We always have fun together.
