2. "The first to use the word Nazi loses the argument."
This is an approximate quote of what I've seen often on DU and elsewhere. I don't know who said it first, but it's pure unadulterated bullshit.

Today, there is little difference between what is being done to us and what was done in Germany in the mid-to-late '30s. We haven't seen the likes of Bush/Cheney/Rove et al since the Third Reich.

And at the moment, our biggest problem is how we stop them from stealing next year's congressional elections again. We've already been well fucked over by Bush & Co. If they hold onto their power in both houses of congress, the presidential election of 2008 will be an exercise in futility.

And the hottest corner of any hell that may exist will be reserved for Democrats in congress who are aiding and abetting the enemy.

19. Agreed!

And the hottest corner of any hell that may exist will be reserved for Democrats in congress who are aiding and abetting the enemy.

And right next to them, there should be a place for those who didn't vote or get involved. It's like watching your country being raped & not calling 9-1-1.

If they win again in '08 I think you are right, our country will be toast.

I become less & less optimistic about our future every day.

3. It's bull and huge fonts don't make it more impressive
Yes, there are many fascistic elements to the Bush regime, but that page overstates the case, and I don't have much time for MIHOP 9-11.

We always laugh at fweepers who scream at the top of their lungs or use bullhorns because they do so when they can't make their case logically. It seems the same applies to this page and its large fonts.

5. Are you saying that you don't see any similarity between the these
illegitimate governments? Of course there are minor differences, these people are not stupid and have learned. They also have different tools today, Hitler was competent, * is just a front man. Hitler used nationalism to rally his country, *Co uses money and the threat of losing your job to ensure compliance. Whether he let or made it happen is irrelevant, it may have been a coincidence or early christmas gift, but the point is it made it possible to seize the power they need to enact their cruel agenda.
They are boiling the frog slowly, and we all taste like chicken. :banghead: :tinfoilhat: :banghead:
But or course it could never happen here.

7. No, I agree, but there are valid
Parallels, to be sure. No matter how silly the presentation is. As for MIHOP, I am not discussing that as I am the interesting parallels in terms of Enabling Act vs. Patriot act. In any case, it was emailed to me and I thought it interesting to share.

8. Tell that to any Jew, Gypsy, gay, among other groups, who
lived in Germany in 1939.

Before accusing someone of "pure idiocy," try reading some of the excellent books that deal with that era.

Beyond that, better to overreact (if that's what it is) rather than let it happen again.

10. And your point is??
Back then, thousands of newspapers existed and there were millions worldwide who knew what was going on in Germany.

The fact that there's now a net and web, is a condemnation of an American population letting our ruling fascists get away with whatever they want to do.

Then again, what are we supposed to do? You just know that Bush/Cheney/Rove et al couldn't care less what we think. You just know that their attitude is, "Fuck 'em. All power comes out of the barrel of a gun and Republican controlled voting machines."

The rest of the civilized world also understands what's happening here, but they too are powerless to rein it in.

But you can't. Now put that into a nationalistic context and you have the same result. MUST NOT CRITICIZE THE US OF A. It is stupid but predicable. And very pathetic.

15. Check that 'no matter what' statement. I don't think they're ready
to pull the trigger yet, but I may be wrong. We are just about ripe for a "law & order" regime to take over the country "for our own good", and all the pieces are in place.
National Guard out of country, regular military present and available, corporate mercenaries roaming the streets, armed, in amerikan cities. Sound familiar?

16. LOL Evil dumbass! Love it!
Rove's not so smart, either. The comparisons between Rove and Goebbels drive me nuts... if Rove had the talent Goebbels had in his left sock, we wouldn't be discussing this.

18. Bush may be gone but the power behind the throne will still be around
Bush is just a front man. The powers that be are not going anywhere and are making sure they have everything fixed for no matter who gets in next time. If their first part doesn't make it (the Republicans) and the Democrats become to uppity, they'll find a way. They aren't giving up power any time soon. It is a long and painful struggle we have ahead.
