Miserable son of a bitches!

"...used her son..."

Bastards! I think we should flood the phone lines and email!!

Also, they were PRAYING....let's honor that, and keep focused with how we refer to this act of civil disobedience. I will be surprised if it is indeed reported this way.

8. I agree with protesting in front of the MSM next protest
"Using her sons death" They need us to get them straight on the facts. Maybe they need millions of us to get them straight on the facts. You know you can't talk to the administration and very few of the Bushbots, but when you target the Media, let them black that out if there are masses of us in all States and in all Cities in front of their offices protesting their propaganda machines. Let's tell them we have had enough BULL SHIT stuffed down our throats. :patriot:

38. Interesting how the Media rarely sees George Bush as using
the 3,000 deaths on 9/11 for his own agenda, and yet he and the Republican ghoul-squad has done so every single day since that horrible September morning.

The Repub creeps even used it to push TAX CUTS just days after 9/11/01!

A "Protest the Media day" is very, very, very long overdue.

9. It's an Associated Press article: Let them know we won't stand for that!!
Here's what I sent to:

feedback@ap.org ; lmargasak@ap.org ; msilverman@ap.org ; opinion@thewire.ap.org ; npickler@ap.org ; rfournier@ap.org ; sjohnson@ap.org ; pr@ap.org ; thunt@ap.org ; traum@ap.org ; jloven@ap.org ; kcarroll@ap.org

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to express my dismay at the subjective rhetoric placed into an article from your news service. The Dallas Morning News is running this article:
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestne...

which contains the passage:

Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Cindy Sheehan, the California woman who has used her son's death in Iraq to spur the anti-war movement, was arrested Monday while protesting outside the White House.

Is it the place of the Associated Press to inject reasons why Cindy Sheehan is engaging in her anti-war protests? It would seem to me that that would be the purview of the TV and print pundits, not a news source.

Please remedy this situation by editing out the subjective and pointed rhetoric "the California woman who has used her son's death in Iraq to spur the anti-war movement"

Thank you.

I would only add

"Please remedy this situation by editing out the subjective and pointed rhetoric "the California woman who has used her son's death in Iraq to spur the anti-war movement"

and replace it with "the California woman who was compelled by the overwhelming grief she felt after losing her son in Iraq to motivate a pre-existing anti-war movement that needed an eloquent and plain spoken gentle spokesperson.

WASHINGTON - Cindy Sheehan, the California woman driven by her son's death in
Iraq to re-ignite the anti-war movement, was arrested Monday while protesting outside the White House.

Sheehan and several dozen other protesters sat down on the sidewalk after marching along the pedestrian walkway on Pennsylvania Avenue. Police warned them three times that they were breaking the law by failing to move along, then began making arrests.

To make your statement to the MSM that we have had it with their propaganda Bull Shit. Enough is Enough. Truth in reporting PLEASE for a change. Maybe we should take our energy and passion right straight to the press from now on. Don't fight the war here when we can take it right to them, in front of their God Damned office. They did little if any reporting on the 24th Protest in Phoenix, it was huge, and all around my State of AZ there were protests going on, none or little media coverage. How about your States? Did your media report your local protests? How many really did come out that day around the country including DC? What are the real numbers of PRO PEACE people demonstrating that day? Who the fuck knows WHY ...because MSM only cares about what the Party Line wants them to report. THAT IS NO LONGER ACCEPTABLE. Tell them that...OK:grr::thumbsdown: :grr:  :grr:

Instead of protecting the American people from government propaganda, you've sold us out! Pure and Simple. Shame on you! You have failed miserably.

"It is the duty of the Patriot to protect his country from his government."-T. Paine

Your willful compliance is pathetic. You have aided and abetted these maniacal monsters and I don't believe that your participation in all of this madness should bear no consequence. Actions have consequences. Every spineless shill in this country owns this bullshit! That's right. Ownership. You OWN this evil.

Pretty difficult to spin TRUTH, isn't it? How much is the going rate these days for selling your soul? The American people have had enough! You've made a gross error in judgement-- "...used her son"-oh please! The only people being "used" is the corrupt and unpatriotic "media"!!! You will be held accountable for the perpetual use of government propaganda. Count on it.

You are one helluv an organizer and activist. My hat is off to you and your quick eye for injustice and dishonesty in reporting this by the MSM. Thanks to all the DU'ers who responded and took action here. You are all wonderful. We can make changes, and we will make huge ones soon. The truth always wins, and like Cindy said so perfectly,

"We are light and they are darkness. Darkness can NEVER overcome the light, ever. As long as there is one spark, the darkness has lost. We will prevail, we will be victorious. The darkness has lost because our beacons of peace and truth are shining for the entire world to see. And it is a very pretty sight."

I really do think we have the power to make change. I just wish everyone who is still willing to use so much energy for election campaigning would focus on reform instead. We'd really make progress then. But....sadly it doesnt look like that is going to happen for '06
So without demanding a paper trail we will have a hand in our own demise.

30. So WHAT if she’s “using her son’s death”?
It IS the Event that caused her to channel her grief into a positive force. Experience is her Credibility and Truth is her Power.

Bush lied, Casey died as a direct result and now she feels compelled to try and prevent other Moms from experiencing her pain by demanding accountability from her elected officials. That’s a perfectly noble Cause. It's the same motivation behind MADD. I have no problem with the way the story was reported until the last paragraph which made me gag.

32. I think they used that phrase in a
derogatory way. It was not complimentary.....and I think most people read it that way.
I understnad what you're saying, but she is not "using" in the sense that, that words brings to mind for most people. She is driven...and focused, and mad as hell because of what has happened. She's not a user...and that is what that sentence suggests. There are better way's to word it, and with the way the media twists things and downplays and distorts....it's natural to read it the way Im SURE they intended it to be.

34. Getting them to change it only changes the symptom
not the disease, and make no mistake, America's establishment journalism is the disease in this country whether they change their wording or not. The people at CNN and/or AP who created and disseminated that meme believe it the way they wrote it and put it on the air, whether they feel shamed into changing it or not.

It was a slip that let out how they really think. In some ways I think it is better to let them play their right-wing ugliness out and then use it against them. We should keep the incident in play as representative of what they're up to whether they change it or not. That's how wingers play the game - one slip, corrected or not, becomes an eternal font of recrimination.

"I would like to say to Cindy Sheehan and her supporters: Don't be a group of unthinking lemmings," said Mitzy Kenny of Ridgeley, West Virginia, whose husband died in Iraq last year. She said the anti-war demonstrations "can affect the war in a really negative way. It gives the enemy hope."

??? i read the offensive language on the washington post's website...or did someone hear someone say it on cnn ?

anyone who would put the situation in those words probably does not even have children let alone a clue about how it feels to lose a child to murder. cindy sheehan has taken her grief and put it to work, for peace. to save other children. she is my hero, and i just wish i could be there to hug her when the excitement lets down and the grief has its way with her. what heartless people could minimize her pain. like bill oreilly when phil donahue reminded him that cindy had taken the hardest blow possible, "oh, yeah."

it's so maddening.

I sent them an email asking if it was their wording or AP's because it came across as intentionallly painting Cindy in a bad light. I'd like to think they were busy and didn't read it carefully and didn't think about how slanted that wording was, since they have now fixed it.

This is how the Freepers have moved the media so far right. Well, that and buying all the papers and tv channels. . . but this does help too. We have to say something *every time* we notice a bias.
