Sonny Perdue gets ANGRY PARENTS doing PROTESTS over School Closure!
Edited on Mon Sep-26-05 04:51 PM by KoKo01
Thank God AHMIGHTY....Georgia Parents coming up and Protesting saying EDUCATION IS MORE IMPORTANT TO THEM than SAVING GAS..and Perdue should have found OTHER WAYS to save gas than to SACRIFICE OUR KIDS EDUCATION.
CNN showed photo of the parents out there protesting. Said, thousands had to scramble for Day Care arrangements and parents "very angry."

Margaret Spellings(Secretary,Department of Education) says ...these were Equal Opportunity Hurricanes! as Blitzer challenged her on Senator Kennedy's accusation that Dept of Education is trying to privatize public schools. Spellings is a clever, well spoken Bush Bot and she, of course, countered Kennedy's accusations.

2. What kind of education does it take to turn the vote counting
over to a private corporation and then not provide any way to audit or recount?

Any naturally intelligent 6th grader wouldn't do that, would he/she? Especially if that 6th grader was computer savvy (which is highly likely).

6. Well, that's nice
Georgians are angry that the Repub governor short-changed their children's education for political reasons, and the first post here is a slam on GA. Real nice.

14. I'm sure a lot of working parents were ticked because they had to figure
out what to do with their kids while they are supposed to be at work.

How many additional "sick" or personal days did the parents have to take? The kids probably will get sick during the school year and I hope they have the flexibility to deal with it then.

13. Purdue just sealed his fate. It's "not nice" to go after Mom's in a Red
State, or any State, for that matter. But, it does show up Perdue's leanings. Maybe he was figuring it was Armageddon and he wanted to make sure he had enough oil and gas to cut out when the "Anti-Christ" appears. He just wants his "folks" to deal with that while he jets out like a James Bond character to some lush Mansion to ride it all out. We know he doesn't really believe that stuff any more than Bush or Ralph Reed or that Fundie twerp (what's his name?) who is looking to run for Governor in 02.

:-(

3. People are finally starting to speak up and protest...
it's about time. Public officials make the worst decisions possible and no one speaks out, so this is encouraging. Also, Spellings is a liar if she is saying the bush administration is not trying to privatize public schools.

9. Don't get all excited.
It's not that they're supporting education, it's that they're pissed they have to find day care. It would be the same in any state.

11. These were very well spoken mothers...they were not some kind of
Freeper types raising fists at the camera. They were in Atlanta...and there are many transplants there and all over GA. These seemed to be "transplants" but I can imagine that ALL PARENTs who have to work hard were totally devastated along with their kids over Perdue's Heroic's.

False Heroic's.. He's probably dead in the water politically after this one...

12. Ha! That's good.
Sorry for the cynicism, I just see this stuff all the time.

Yes, it seems interesting that he (Perdue) would go down this path, knowing that all it would do is make every parent in the state pissed. I'd be reviewing that political strategy if I were him.
