Thread for DU members who are Katrina Victims and need help

It is a terrible thing when members of our own community are in dire need of help, and in the context of another thread, we have just learned that at least one member of the DU community has suffered greatly: his or her brother he has no winter cloting for his 2 and 4 year old. The house was gutted, the family lost everything, and the brother is worried how he will keep the children warm in winter. Apparently, national fundraising efforts are not getting through to individuals, so it looks like we're on our own here.

Perhaps there are others in this community in similar situations: this thread is for them--pls post pleas for help and offers for assistance and let's do all we can to network on this.

Please, people, do evertything you can to help support our DU brothers and sisters through these very difficult times.
