HOW THE FUCK WOULD ARNOLD HELP BUSH IN 2004?
I keep hearing this, but it doesn't make any sense. Arnold will inherit a 38 billion dollar deficit and has made some promises regarding taxes that can not be met. I predict he becomes unpopular very very quickly. California won't stand for a celebrity governor, they want a real one. A Jesse Ventura type, who is all media-hype and not much else won't go down well in CA.

Also, the Governor of California has no oversight over voting machines etc. The Secretary of State does. The Secretary of State is a Democrat. So is the majority of both legislatures. So is every other state-wide office holder and Mayor.

How would Bush win? Davis was unpopular. This is what people don't realize. He IS VERY UNPOPULAR. Democrats, Independants, and Republicans HATE this guy. We put our money on a long shot and we lost.

But the thing people have to remember is that Bush will be in the Davis position for 2004. If anything, this is a good sign. People seem willing to throw out their leaders. This will portend well for 2004, when we ask them to throw out the President of the United States.

So it's done. Time to think about tomorrow, because yesterday's gone (remember that)?

2. He won't help them win at all
but he can make California enough of a distraction to draw off the Dem Candidate's time and money.

3. He's going to make mincemeat of the Democrats
He's going to play trash politics and say that the Democratic Party of California represents the old establishment and that they are too like Davis. We've seen this already.

Rep Sanchez of L.A., a prominent latina, is being challeneged by this other person. He's already saying that she represents the Davis Democrats and is a failure by doing it.

He's going to play the politics of association.

4. Think 2000
You don't think Jeb and KH helped W pull of the theft?

I wish it were true that Ahnuld was unpopular but it seems enough assholes voted for him to take down the elected Dem.

5. But one thing that worries me is this:
There were a record number of voters for this election, and Republicans, between Arnold and McClintok, look like they're going to get 60% of that! 60%!!!! This is supposed to be a Dem state! I know that some of that includes Dems voting for Arnold, but what worries me is all the new voters Arnold apparently brought in. Are they all going to be Republicans, making Cali a competative state in 2004 and beyond?

6. Same way Jeb helped W, and by making Republicans seem like
cool people, and by using the media, which will obviously do whatever he wants.

10. You guys need to settle right down
It won't help one bit. That's the answer to my question. Grab your balls. And keep your eye on the prize. If a little election starring a very unpopular democrat bothers you, then you have no buisness in politics.

7. It's not just Arnold, if 60% of Californians vote Republicans, that is bad
Also, Republicans claimed they were going to register 400,000 new Republican voters before the recall.

If you don't see a problem with 400,000 new Republican voters, and 60% of voters going Republican the year before a presidential election, then you just don't want to see it.

9. Here's how
And I think this is a very likely possibility.

Arnold gets in and cuts taxes like crazy (normal Republican BS, where the rich get handouts and everyone else gets a few dollars to shut them up). He curbs spending, but mostly on education.

He has helped Bush immensely already because now California's problems are blamed on Davis, not Bush (the rightful source of blame). So, to thank him, Bush proposes and passes a few billion in "emergency relief" to California. You know, because money is no object.

So now Arnold looks like a savior, and Davis and the Dems look like asses.

And if that isn't enough, Arnold will still get to help out in 2004. How?
Simple. The same way Jeb helped out with Florida in 2000.

13. Ummm.....
Jebbie used his office to illegally eliminate nearly 100K predominately Democratic voters from the rolls for the 2000 presidential election. Other shenanigans had similar effect in eliminating Dem votes in Florida. If Ahnold can scam that level of votes in Ca., It might make a major difference in what might otherwise be a no-win situation for Shrub in 2004.

15. CA ain't the center of the universe and that's the problem
WHATEVER happens out there isn't the issue...but the message all over the country to a party that got it's fucking ass beat off in '02 when we thought they would rebel against Bush's economy is what is the problem. This boosts up the repukes as the party of the future and the Dems as the scum who will never rise again. Thank you Dems in CA who helped this happen....have a nice, economically short life and then cry the rest of us a 'river'. This IS the boost that Bush needed....trust me, next time his numbers will rise.

16. Watch Bush start funnelling our tax dollars to California.
All sorts of new projects that hire will be set up fast. It will help give the temporary illusion that it's gonna get better. In reality, Enron gets let off the hook, and they find MORE ways of siphoning cash from California down the road .

19. blm Thats how Pataki won in NY- promise of help from bush
I will never forget how enraged I felt when bush said he would be more "receptive" to a republican governor winning in NY.."would be more willing to pick up the phone" Arrogant SOB that he is. This after Andrew Cuomo came right out & asked how bush could come to $1,000 a plate dinners for Pataki, when NY had yet to receive any federal aid for 9/11. Of course, liar that he is, NY never received the aid he promised anyway. Not to mention the Falsified EPA report. We learned the hard way in NY not to trust bush. Good luck California.

17. you may be right but...
Think they are hoping Arnold's popularity, will bring in new voters for the republican party. I keep thinking of Jesse Ventura, alot of young white males that never thought about voting, did, for Ventura. But that soured pretty quickly. Arnold brings alot of baggage with him too- he is anything but a conservative, and the scandals he brings with him, well, its like watching republican glass houses finally break. "What Will We Tell The Children???" remember that one? I think republicans are digging a deeper hole for themselves then they know.

There was an article in the NY Post- how they are planning to use Arnie at the Republican 2004 NY Convention. NY Post ecstatic about it. But trust me, there is alot of anger in NY about bush, and I dont think Arnie is going to help. Not to mention the egos of Pataki & Guiliani- dont think they are going to appreciate being upstaged by him. Could turn out to be a real disaster. Lets hope so! :)

PS. I love that song! Next Recall is going to be bush!

20. I'll agree Davis is unpopular. He is even unpopular among
members of his own party.I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for many republicans finding shrub unpopular.Bush controlls most of the media simmilar to Arnold. The 2004 presidential race will be tough, extremely tough. If Democrats are going to win it will depend on several factors.

For starters we need to get a front runner as soon as possible. We also need to establish a unified front. Our coalition of minorities, labor, education, enviornmental, seniors, women, and peace activists must unite and work together.Willing to comprimise with each other not forgetting the big picture.

We also will need some help from the competition. It sucks waiting for things to get worse, but they probabally will have to for Dems to have a shot. The double standard is so lopsided. If Clinton was president and had Bush's record to run on,I doubt he would get 40% approval.Bush is at 50%.The media is not our friend. They are mostly the ones that make or break who wins or loses.I watched the CA debate.Arnold was OK he didn't shine in no way or fashion. But after the media started bragging his performance up his polling numbers went up.The same was true with Bush in 2000.

No we shouldn't expect a fair shake this year,or next year.We didn't get one in 00 or 02.These media outlets are bought and paid for by corprate America, and they are beholden to them to protect their intrests. Not the American peoples intrests.

To win this election,Democrats must be willing to invite independants, disatisfied republicans, greens, reforms and attract new voters, young and old alike.I personally believe a traditional candidate will have a tough time doing this. The ideal person would be a outsider who is geographically connected. It may be Clark,it may be Dean.To be honest we may need someone else, but time is running out.

We also will have to take this fight to the street, like the protests before the war.But instead of protests,we musts have organized rallies, grassroots events that promote our candidate. We also need rallies that oppose Bush. These rallies need to promoted by people, not by political campaigns. We will have to force the issue. We can not depend on the establishment. With a strong effort, the media will have no other choice but to notice. And even in doing all this,it doesn't give us an advantage. It just gives us a legitimate chance. And with all the cards that are stacked agianst us.That is the best we can hope for.
