U.S. envoy Karen Hughes' message to Muslims: We care
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N26146244.htm

JEDDAH, Saudia Arabia, Sept 26 (Reuters) - U.S. envoy Karen Hughes knows how to stay on message and her message to Muslims is: We care. But it's not clear how many are listening.

When the sagging American image abroad needed a facelift, President George W. Bush turned to Hughes, a close adviser and communications guru who nurtured his own image through two election campaigns.

Her modus operandi then, and now on a trip to Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, is remarkably similar: set basic talking points, stick to them, then keep rolling the tape.

Highlights include: Bush is the first American president to call for an independent Palestinian state. The problem in Iraq is the insurgents who kill indiscriminately. No one likes war. The United States is a democracy but it is not perfect.

This kind of stupid shit is going to do a lot more bad than good. Who does this nut think she is taking too? Her twelve year old kids or something? Send them "Shock And Awe" and then tell them "we love them". Nope. Not going to work. Should have tried the "we love you" BS first. That probably wouldn't have worked either but at least they wouldn't have wanted to kill us over it.

Karen - You should've stayed in retirement while you were still ahead of the game.

5. She's going to get us attacked again
Karen, Karen, Karen, do yourself and your president a favor. Resign in favor if someone who actually is trained to deal with these problems and can set a policy we can all live with. Literally.

7. When I saw her smiling face
I was astounded at how big her head was. It was very thick! If she thinks that she can bring thickheaded ideas with a smile and the world will fall all over itself for the fearless knucklehead in chief, she is deluded.

14. A bush sends another woman to middle east.

Now, where have we seen this before.

Alice Gilespie, perhaps? Didn't we have a little fight over kuwait then? She had no talent either.

Please don't get me wrong - this is not a sexist statement. It is merely recognition of the territory where women are treated as less important than men.

19. One other thing about KH
She deserves any shabby treatment coming her way. This woman is decietful, mendacious and dangerously delusional. Not someone I want to share an elevator with. As a Chimp enabler I would send her off on a fool's errand just like this one... and maybe she won't come back. I'd say she is expendable.

21. April G - that's the chicklet. (sorry - insert sheepish grin)
Karen Hughes was more mother to Boy George than political adviser. Although, she did help tune Rove's messages.

I view her total lack of success in the Middle East as not only predictable, but totally ill-advised. I suspect Rovian ideas, spiced with rice, Condi Rice, that is. Part of her limited mind-set probably went like this:

I have an oil tanker named after me. And no one noticed my connection with Big Oil!
I am the brightest woman in the Bush administration.
I was the best national security adviser in history. I managed to let the attack take place AND start a war almost all by my lonesome.
I am now the best Secretariat of State in history. I know just what this middle yeast kneads.

Karen Hughs. Yeah, that's the ticket. let her make peace all over. considering that she kept my semi-sober husb. . .president under control.

Amber, your words are perfectly true. She is an enabler, no less and no more than Little Miss Shoe Top.

23. Her son was heading off to college
Edited on Wed Sep-28-05 06:08 PM by FreedomAngel82
I believe he just graduated high school and she wanted to help him settle in and get used to it or whatever. College kids I know who go off to school have their parents come with them on the moving day and help move in but they don't take THAT much time as she did! I believe she was gone for several weeks "helping him move into college." Isn't he a big boy and wants to be away from his mother at college?

13. We (the Bush Admin) Care ... About Blowing you up.
I don't think they'll buy that "We Care" shit, especially after they made statements like Rove's:

(paraphrasing) "After the attacks on 9/11, the liberals wanted to understand and provide therapy to the attackers while conservatives wanted to defend the country and fight the war on terra"
