Them marching is a pretty direct invitation to violence. Protesting in favor of a sitting president usually isn't seen as quite so confrontational.

There are approximatly 153,000 active US solders in Iraq right now. So, even if every single soldier was able to show up for the protest, the Peace Marchers would have probably still out-numbered them.

Veterans For Peace has noticed their numbers swell, and veteran-groups who support the war have scant membership.

One of the reasons there are so few soldiers among the Freeper rank-and-file is because conservatives, by their very nature, are a cowardly lot. They prefer to let others do the fighting for them while they wrap themselves in patriotic rhetoric.

The ones you meet here in the states these days certainly are. They're the definition of moral cowardice; advocating war while avoiding it themselves. There are plenty that are willing to walk the walk- they're few in comparison to the first category of course, but they're out there.

Freedom is something you are born with, like your eyes. When someone attempts to takes away your freedom, the degree to which you fight back is the degree to which you are free.

Soldiers are a necessary, and sacred, component of any nation. An army (ideally) is a tool of the state to defend a certain amount of land from outside interference so that its citizens can be free from tyrants in other countries. Still, soldiers don't make you free, and a large army is not a symbol as to how much freedom people are allowed to enjoy. Communist China has a huge army yet their citizens aren't free. A black man in the 1960s wasn't permitted to be free in Alabama despite the Civil War and the unparalleled military might of the US after World War II.

You are born with your freedom. Soldiers protect it from external threats, but it is the activist who protects Liberty from the ambitions of the powerful. Voting, protesting, petitioning the government, boycotts and unionizing do more to allow future generations to enjoy their rights than an army in a foreign country engaged in an immoral war.

The modern conservative is to cowardly to admit this to themselves, and this cowardice is what blinds them to how ridiculous they look holding "Support Our Troops" posters. In truth, thinking Americans know that the real patriots, defenders of freedom and lovers of life are the Peace Marchers.

The term "Support Our Troops" has been taken back by the left. Progressives have proven themselves more patriotic and dedicated than the right-wing. Ideologically, conservatives are naked before the winds of change; This is why they huddled behind the police in front of the FBI. They have surrendered their freedom of thought to the ruling elites of this country: They are a cold, cowardly lot who should not be pitied.

12. Freepers baffle me

Hubbie wasn't wearing anything that would indicate that he is a vet, but there were hundreds, maybe thousands of us that were dressed to clearly indicate that they are vets. Are the freepers blind or stupid :shrug:

One of the freeper women yelled "you should thank them", meaning the troops. So Mr zola who served 7 years active duty and several in the reserves walked over to her and said "you're welcome". It was hilarious. She stuttered and told him "thank you", but clearly was confused. :rofl:

I asked a sergeant last Saturday why the heavy police presence at our local demo... think of this ratio ok....

2000+ demonstrators
200 + cops, six of them on horseback BEHIND the freepers
20 freepers...

So I went, hey sarge what gives, you are afraid we will get out of control?

No if it was fer you we could do this with 20 cops for crowd and traffic control mostly
