12. That was truly an indicator of Brown's total incompetence.
Edited on Tue Sep-27-05 02:00 PM by TahitiNut
He's soooooo far out of his depth in any respect that he has to latch onto the totally trivial, correcting Congressman Taylor (D-MS) who misspoke calling it the "Federal Emergency Management Association" instead of the "Federal Emergency Management Agency". It's wholly indicative of Brown's complete, abysmal lack of competence that he seized on such a trivial point -- when he has a 'pResident' who can't achieve punctuation without foot-in-mouth disease. Unfuckingreal!

4. Thank you for reporting
After hearing a few clips on Franken, I don't have the stomach.

Howard Feinman suggested that Brownie's being so arrogant and so contemptuous that it's turning Repugs off.

15. Amazing. He (almost) literally couldn't even cover his own ass.
I wonder if they mean a hurricane destroyed his home or if he literally actually lost his house and can't find it now...

14. Brown's 'smartest' talking point: FEMA's not all that big... um....
He said FEMA wasn't all that big. Only had 3000 employees.

I'm afraid Mr Brown's efforts to "save face" are doomed, due to the fact that there's nothing behind the mask.

18. The problem is Brown doesn't appear to understand what FEMA is supposed
to do....coordinate/direct other Fed agencies/resources and coordinate/work with the locals. Proactively, not just reactively.

Additionally, under BushInc, they cut FEMA's authority to get things done vis a vis other Fed agencies. Previously (under Clinton) it was proactive, not just reactive. Additionally, the mindset of the Bush appointees inhibits FEMA's effectiveness. Not to mention sheer incompetence. BushInc's been destroying FEMA and when the results are apparent they blame the locals. Ignoring what FEMA's mission is supposed to be in emergencies.

Given its performance in an anticipated natural disaster, what the hell would they do in the case of an unanticipated terror attack of any magnitude? Which is supposedly BushInc's and DHS's focus? Completely fucked.
