Looking for the silver lining in a Nazi / Rapist / Racist victory....
Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 08:21 PM by althecat
It strikes me that if Ahhnold the Nazi/rapist/mysogynist/racist wins - and lets pray that he doesn't - that it is not necessarily all bad, even if it is enough to make us want to puke tonight.

Moreover much of the upside of this fiasco will be enjoyed by the left whether Ahhnold the Nazi/rapist/mysogynist/racist wins or loses.

I am interested in others views on this.. and here's my take...

1. Any figleaves of credibility that the GOP had as either family friendly party, as opponents of sleaze or indeed even as a real "conservative" party is now gone. They can now no longer be seen as anything other than power obsessed friends of corporate theives with absolutely no ethics...

2. The era of Clinton baiting is now officially at an end.

3. Ahhnold/Bush will be able to be blamed for California's budget crisis from here on in.

4. The morons who vote for Ahhnold because somehow they have managed to miss out on the news that Ahhnold is a racist, rapist and a Nazi may be woken out of their political slumber when they realise how they have misused their democratic rights.

5. Political consciousness over the State of California may generally be higher now...

6.. BBV is getting a much needed push...

And I am sure there are other positive aspects to this fiasco too... there always are. This is the nature of the dialectic.

:)

2. The silver lining will be that the Groper
will have to deal with the mess that is California's economy. He's also going to have to explain why he can't magically make the car tax increase disappear.

6. Eileen... I figured it would be nice to get some warm fuzzies in place...
Just in case. I know from experience that a loss can sometimes dispirit the troops. This way the troops can be happy no matter what.. And also.... when Ahhnold the rapist loses much of this analysis will still hold true anyway...

5. Honey, everything that you just posted
will totally go over the heads of Cal-a-forn-ee-uns and Amurekans. They will assume that everything will be peachy keen and one year from now will be totally convinced that Arnulllld terminated the problem. I am now living to see this pathetic nation die...it's the only sport left.

9. This post doesn't do that though....
It just begs the question what if. There is another post that asks what about 2004 if Ahnold wins... I can't see that is agin the rules.

10. Actually it could be very funny and pathetic... I view this whole
recall as a drug trip...Californians wanted to forget their problems so they decided to take a diversionary drug trip (recall)...when the recall is over... the trip ends....and lo and behold!...reality is once more at the door.

The problems are going to be there tomorrow and no matter who is governor ...its going to get ugly trying to fix them...

14. The big thing is the sexual misconduct haunting his administration
No guarantees, as the media are pretty hands-off on context and noting hypocrisy, but this could be Nixonian in the build--I seem to remember a forty state victory going to ignominity in not too extended a period. Arnold could go the same route. :)
