I thought Colmes was too soft on Hannity and Colmes but if you listen to his radio show he really is a hard hitter and makes excellent points

Different points of view. I disagree with every one of them on occasion, but I love to hear what they and their guests and callers have to say. I like Mike Malloy, too. Actually, I like all of them. There aren't any I dislike.

10. Yeah Randi is great, and Jerry is good, but there's no question that ...
it's Al Franken and Catherine Lanpher that are best! She is the perfect straight person to Al's bad-boy humor. Yesterday, he gets this deranged-evil look in his eye (it was also shown in the Sundance outtake) and comes out with his shocker, while Catherine sits their with her jaw dropped in disbelief. Perfect!

I like Randi second. Love it when Jeanine gets on a tear. She can be outrageous. With Sam Seder, it's a good combo.
On the weekend I look forward to Bobby Kennedy and Sam Palantonio and Laura Flanders. love that 'Ring of Fire' show.

Edited on Tue Sep-27-05 03:54 PM by melissinha
I wake up tot the Sedition and rely upon it every day, but first comes the Goddess.....

I like Mike too, and the Majority Report (Sam is really polishing up). You gotta remember that Sam was all over the whole Ohio coin scandal and Duke Cunningham from the very beginning.

Love Rachel and Laura too. Real troopers.

I can rarely stand to listen to an entire show with Jerry or Al, Jerry is too wishywashy and Al has a huge ego.

26. Listen to the Majority Report the most...
...only due to the fact of the time it is on and the time I can best listen to AA on the net.
Though I will admit that I think it's better when Sam Seder is by himself as Jeanene does seem to come off as a little elitist at times and while she may speak the truth, I think it just gives the Right Wing fodder to stereotype liberals.

But Randi Rhodes will always be the goddess...I just wish she was on later so I could listen more.

27. Malloy First, Morning Sedition Second.
Edited on Tue Sep-27-05 04:16 PM by longship
That's my instant runoff vote.

If I were to take a third, it would be Majority Report with Sam or Janeane (but, not with the both of them).

Other candidates -- Rachel which I catch occasionally (too early). Randi is okay, but I never listen to the whole show. Franken is funny when he's on.

On the weekend, Laura Flanders and Ring of Fire are tied for tops with me. Both are excellent.

Thom Hartmann? Good, but talks about himself all the time. Can't stand that. And charges for downloads. Buh-bye Thom. Lunch with Bernie is a stand-out, though.

I like Mike the best, followed by Rachel, Randi and Marc-n-Mark (all tied for second), Laura Flanders, Majority Report.

Jerry can be okay. I also like the weekend shows with Papantonio and RFK Jr., and Mother Jones News, and Eco Talk. I'm not sure if they are syndicated to all AAR.

They have a bunch of new stuff on weekends here in NY; we'll have to see how they develop.

45. Here's My Ranking...
I am an Air America fanatic, and have analysed this stuff bigtime:

1. Laura Flanders (because she's the most informed) although where the fuck is her accent from? South Africa? Who knows. When I can't place an accent it drives me nuts. Anyway, she's hot and smart and I agree with her politics.

2. Sam Seder (ALONE) or Janeane (ALONE). Together, they did that annoying crosstalk shit for months before they finally learned not to do that. But alone they're awesome. They've both really gotten the radio format down.

3. Ring of Fire. Papantonio is awesome, as is RFK, Jr., although his poor, raspy voice wears on me. I feel bad for him, but he's got great politics. A bit too mainstream for my tastes, but good.

4. Jerry Springer. He's informed, really intelligent, educated, very humble, and compassionate. He doesn't burn me out like Malloy and Randi do.

5. Ed Schultz. He makes lefties look good, he's fairly well-informed, he's a nice guy. A bit too mainstream, but a good addition to the station.

6. Randi Rhodes. I don't think she's funny. I can't stand her whiny voice. She cuts herself off in mid-sentence, which is VERY annoying. She treats many of her callers like crap and cuts them off whether she agrees with them or not, talking over them. She has a HUGE ego. But I like her politics. She calls Bush a fascist, which I like, and she's on the right track regarding the 9/11 coverup.

Random mentions:

Mike Malloy has GREAT politics, but he's so fucking depressing that I can't stand to listen to him for more than like 10 minutes. It's on right before I go to bed, and I really don't like to end my day with that sort of harsh shit, although I agree with about 99.9% of what he says. It's HOW he expresses himself that I don't like.

Mark and Mark: The white guy is ANNOYING AND NOT FUNNY, the black guy is great.

The Rachel Maddow show is great, but I do get tired of the apparently ENDLESS discussions of gay issues. Yes, lefties support gay rights, in general, now shut up about it and talk about something that truly affects the bulk of Americans, like Bush's Global Corporate Fascism.

48. Oh yeah...
Al Franken can be fairly funny, but he also cuts himself off in mid-sentence, which is ANNOYING. His show is very slow-paced and stilted, and he interrupts his callers and guests, even the big-time guests. Just finish a goddamn sentence, man!

His co-host just seems to burst into laughter for no apparent reason, which is also annoying.

And Al's pretty mainstream. But he's a decent guy.

Thom Hartmann is great. He should definitely have his own show on Air America.
