Brown a "useful pinata" for the GOP? |

John Harwood of the Wall Street Journal called Brown that on Countdown just now. Said Brown's appearance didn't help the White House, but did help GOP Congressmen who wanted to be seen beating up on Brown.
Which makes me wonder if that's the main reason Brown is on the federal payroll again. It might've been harder for them to compel his testimony if he wasn't being paid.

all questions that were to be asked and his responses had to be cleared by the White House first. That was just a Repug dog and pony show today.

I don't believe for a minute that Chris Shays was asking any questions that were "cleared" by the WH.
