You did a heck of a job, Brownie!
Even the House Select Committee gave Brownie "heck":

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/27/AR2005092701650.html

I watched part of it and although some Congressmen almost gave him a free ride, all it took was for a few to become so disgusted with his smarmy, smirking, incredulous dissembling that I got the impression there may be some hope for some Republicans yet (all but 2 on the committee were Repubs).

3. He took the kind of drubbing usually reserved

for the General Manager of a failed company by it's board of directors.

The kind of drubbing where you might as well just not show up, because there is nothing you can say that is going to fix it, and any excuse you make up is going to be immediately rejected.

4. I saw it too. But, keep in mind, the ones who were hard on him also
had alterer motive.Notice how some of the questioning was aimed at trying to get Brown to say that the Federal Government did all they were supposed to do, but it was Browns fault for not getting it to the right places? Cunning was it not?:eyes:

5. Good point, but OTOH...
Edited on Wed Sep-28-05 02:11 AM by Seabiscuit
the more it was Brown's fault the less it was the LA governor's or NOLA mayor's fault, and ipso facto the more it was the federal government's fault, because Brown headed the federal agency that was ultimately responsible for the failed response (read: criminal neglect) by the feds and the ensuing suffering, death, and tragedy. And who does Brown report to but Chertoff and Bush?

IOW, any tactic aimed at making Brown a scapegoat logically backfires, because it still points the dirty end of the stick at the Bush administration, and ultimately at Dubya.

6. Exactly, Great insight which all the more validates the
Democrats Boy Cott of the Congress Cover-Up Commission. As the nation watches the deceitful and obvious "tactics" used by the Republicans, it will become quite evident that indeed, an INDEPENDENT COMMISSION which the Democrats have suggested, really is the best option.

7. Dog & Pony Show
Now has any of those Repugnicans who played so high and mighty ask why Drownie was still on the Federal payroll if he screwed up as bad as he did?

This was red meat for the Faux Noise Kool-Aid Dittohead set. It allowed for lots of finger pointing (most at Blanco and Nagin) along with some loud voices...then in the end, they all go to do doo-dah room and have a couple of martinis. They all showed us!

Now did you hear a single one of those critters call for an independent investigation? What is the follow-up here? Now that Drownie's been "taken down a peg", what's next? Some of those questions sure looked like this panel needs to speak to other members of this regime...like Mr. Chertoff and Mr. Card. Let's see if they come close to that or figure this was enough.
