Michael Brown should have the shit slapped out of him.
The sheer arrogance of this man is astounding. It reflects the arrogance of this whole corrupt administration.

People DIED while these bureaucrats pissed about and he's DEFENDING his actions. Most nations would have jailed this man by now.

4. Mr. Brown, I thought it was not time to play the Blame Game?
Or, what do you call all that finger pointing & buck passing yesterday?

5. He IS a Moran but:
FEMA is actually an after-action setup. I'm in no way defending their atrocious "response" to Kat'a--they're repeating it w/ Rita--but Fatherland Security was SUPPOSED to have a plan. Buzillions of dollars later it seems that search, rescue, and evac. have been intentionally ignored. WHERE IS THE MONEY?

The Devil's in the details & Chert = 'devil" in Russian.

10. I'm with you there.
I just had a LTTE published yesterday featuring Par. 6 from Homeland Security Presidential Directive/HSPD-5

(6) The Federal Government recognizes the roles and responsibilities of State and local authorities in domestic incident management. Initial responsibility for managing domestic incidents generally falls on State and local authorities. The Federal Government will assist State and local authorities when their resources are overwhelmed, or when Federal interests are involved. The Secretary will coordinate with State and local governments to ensure adequate planning, equipment, training, and exercise activities. The Secretary will also provide assistance to State and local governments to develop all-hazards plans and capabilities, including those of greatest importance to the security of the United States, and will ensure that State, local, and Federal plans are compatible.

It's pretty clear that those repukes who insist on finding fault with local disaster planning don't realize that Chertoff and DHS were tasked with ensuring the adequacy of local preparedness two and a half years ago and clearly dropped the ball.

14. The issue's deeper than local preparedness, and the model for
deploying a "GO" team is already in existance. Not sure they do it now (too 'spensive, probably--might chip a few bux from the WarParty budget) but the FAA had a 'Go' team in place for years. As soon as a plane crash was reported, these people--experts in various disciplines, always packed & ready to leave--converged onsite ASAP to investigate. It's like comparing acorns to oak trees but COME ON.

18. I know it's not a local preparedness issue. My motivation was
to take that complaint away from the repukes in this town.

6. One part of this mess that is in our favor though
is that he hung the media out to dry. The msm doesn't like being so openly and blatantly being critizised. Perhaps it will energize some to lead the charge against him. Wishful thinking? Maybe, but I do believe his blaming the media is going to help hang him, not one msm report let him off the hook for his comments.

7. Somewhere Rove is planning his next move
The word is to blame most of it on Nagan. But Nagan was the one who got on the TV and yelled at the government to get off it's proverbial asses and help the people. M. Brown is not as responsible as G Bush and M Chernoff who is really a mess...

8. That is the best idea I've heard
It was said that he was a pinata for the repukes, so they could look tough on something and even a few dems. took a swipe.
He was not ready for prime time and not ready to head his own boots.

11. He is an insult to every Emergency Responder
He is an insult to the First Responder community (Police, Fire, EMS, VFD, Coast Guard).

He is an insult to the Volunteer Responder community (Red Cross, Salvation Army, Southern Baptist Brotherhood, Ham Radio, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol, Volunteer Urban Search and rescue, his own CERT volunteers)

He is outside the protection of Saint Florian.

Saint Florian should withdraw his "protection" from Brown - and Brown should destroy his "Crossed Gold Fire Nozzles"

12. Why is he doing this?
Is he just the messenger boy or is he a paranoid delusional/narcissist like Shrub?

Was this the plan all along, to use him as a Rovian mouthpiece to try the "blame Nagin/Blanco" lie again? I don't think anybody bought it the first time (with notable exceptions for the Bushbots).

And what's with the 'consultant' gig? Is this supposed to make him look more 'objective'?

This gambit has failed utterly. Even Republicans are outraged at his statements. It's time he was hounded out of public life for good.

He was a JOKE! What an embarrassment to our country's emergency response system. While I'm sure there is enough blame to go around, he clearly thinks his shit doesn't stink.

I've never seen anything like the arrogance of this administration. Each day when I think this administration couldn't get any worse...they do!

20. He's the star of the Bushoilini Kabuki right now.
He's clearly going to be paid handsomely for taking the fall -- the Lynndie England of Fatherland Security. It's a great deal for a guy who couldn't possibly get an honest job paying 1/10th as much. I wouldn't hire him to mow my lawn.

I'd bet one of my testicles that a comprehensive review of FEMA expenditures would portray a broad spectrum of payments for each and every identifiable mitigation and recovery element ... but would also show that far less than half of what was purchased was actually delivered in terms of tangible resources. Indeed, those payments would undoubtedly be traceable as a corporate cascade of "trickle down" subcontracts and advisory 'services' ending with a dry riverbed of funds.

The GOP model of "tickle down" in such spending probably looks like a fire-hose of funds with punctures and taps suctioning off the water until what comes out of the nozzle is reduced to a dribble. To use another metaphor, FEMA was just another source of blood for the cabal of vampires infesting DHS.
