Something very important is going on in our country and it ought to wake everyone of us up. As you've probably heard, President Bush is asking Congress to move ahead on plans to place the U.S. Military in full control of disaster response. For a variety of reasons, this is a very dangerous idea.

The article below presents this case and why it is so critical to our freedom and security to keep current laws on the books and not infringe on the Posse Comitatus Act which prevents our military from detaining and arresting U.S. citizens. Such federal control over the citizenry would inevitably turn the U.S. into a Banana Republic with full control over its population, superceding the local and state levels. Arrests would be made not by local cops, but by our own men and women in uniform. In other words, the beginnings of a new American police state. The founding fathers of our country would be rolling in their graves at the prospect of such an out-of-control Federal Government.

It is time we make our voices heard on this matter. Please pick up your telephone and call Congress toll-free at 1-877-762-8762 and urge your Representative and every member of the Senate you can think of NOT to put the Pentagon in charge of disaster response. Tell them you do NOT want Posse Comitatus repealed, and that you do NOT want to see U.S. Military operations on our soil. Tell them that disaster response was working well prior to President Bush putting FEMA under Homeland Security, and that disaster response should continue to be left up to the State Governors calling up the National Guard with FEMA in a support and coordination role.

Lastly, I want to emphasize that this is not a Republican issue. It's not a Democratic issue. It's an AMERICAN issue.

Please pass this note on to everyone you know. This matter is absolutely critical for the future of our country.

Absolutely! Wow, it could even lead to rigging elections. How convenient. No wonder why * wants to repeal it so bad.
