Do House rules require he step down from his leadership position?

I think so, but don't know so.

2. Would probably need to actually be convicted first
But they COULD do it now. Just very unlikely.

3. He has to step down from the Majority Leader position
He does not have to give up his seat.

4. Don't think so
No doubt, the Republicans are going to be fighting tooth and nail to hold him in the highest esteem. It's going to be another wedge argument..."In America, you're innocent until proven guilty. The partisan politics of the Democrat Attorney General is an unspeakable horror this nation should not have to bear."

6. No. A congressman can be removed from office
By a vote in Congress. It is different than an impeachment. I think it can happen at any time, but it is very unlikely to happen unless he is convicted (and even if the Democrats were in charge, they would be unlikely to remove someone from office before a trial. I do not think i would support such a move before a conviction).

I do think that DeLay can lose official leadership positions immediately. His unofficial power is still there, but will be greatly diminished.

If Dr. Fist ... er... Frist, far behind? Rove?
