3. Yes, consider this;

Many people have payments on cars that are 400-500 a month. Even an increase from say 120 to 200 is small. Then you factor in insurance. A vehicle can easily run to 800 a month for some people. This would amount to a ten percent increase in total cost. Also note that in this scenario the gas price almost doubles people are bound to lower their consumption based on facing the higher costs.

The last time I filled up my car was Aug 30. I'm lucky in that I don't have to use much gasoline.

However, I'm very concerned about how the prices of other things is going to go up, from groceries, to energy costs, so I plan to scale back my spending significantly this winter.

6. As did I. Many of the people who voted yes probably did it because of

the way the prices behaved after Katrina. This has proven to be temporary and the prices have already dropped significantly. If the increase in demand from China and India continues to increase we can expect to see prices continue to increase.
