First, Pat B. said even if Tom Delay beats the charge, his career is done. The White House has to drop support for him because he has too much baggage. Second, he said that about half the House republicans are ready to withdraw support for Delay.

Conspiracy charges are historically hard to prove. But we do not know the evidence the DA has. Hence, one can only speculate -- without having any real knowledge -- about the strength of the charges.

two Reps--Snowe and Collins, both moderate Repubs--probably WOULDN'T support DeLay... I HOPE. They represent more of the traditional GOP than the neo-cons in power now.

While I do not support even moderate republicans as a rule, I am aware that a growing number are looking to distance themselves from the administration. A number of times in the past 16 months, I have quoted from Joseph Wilson's book, where he quotes unnamed republicans who express dismay at the strong-armed tactics that the administration takes in trying to crush those who disagree with them.

There are republicans who are sincere in their beliefs -- some are fiscal conservatives, for example, who know that the Halliburton war in Iraq is a sin. Others know the WMD lies were criminal. This is the beginning of the shift that "old-timers" recognize from the Nixon era. Today is an important day.

1. There has been a dozen threads started on what NeoNazi Pat Buchanan said on this subject and he is totally wrong per usual.

2. BushCo will not and cannot dump DeLay without exposing the Bush Family Texas Mafia. PERIOD

3. We spent 3 years in a Grand Jury investigation here in Austin/Houston and for that we get ONE weak "Hail Marry" charge against DeLay, involving only ONE transaction. That's pretty disgusting.

4. It's obvious from reading the indictment that DeLay's attorney's had some say in it's drafting, which is not uncommon in Texas. Bottom line, DeLay will never spend a day in jail on this matter after 3 years of hard work.

5. Finally, this is not Mexico, our legal system doesn't operate under Napoleonic Law.

There's a LOT of folks starting to talk in rural America: about Katrina, about Cindy (damn straight she has the moral authority to ask, "What noble cause?"), the war, the fuel and cost-of-living increases, the debt, the tax cuts for the most wealthy, etc.
