Tom DeLay statement coming up -- here it is
Edited on Wed Sep-28-05 01:58 PM by highplainsdem
Joke at the start that it's just "another day at the office."

Then he calls the indictment "blatant partisanship" by a "rogue" prosecutor, a "sham," the product of a campaign of "political retribution." He accuses Earle of abusing the power of his office.

Calls Earle an "unabashed partisan zealot." Says Earle has gone out of his way to give media interviews and single DeLay out for personal attacks. Suggests that the indictment today was Earle's response to criticism from his hometown paper, which had asked Earle weeks ago why there was no indictment of DeLay when he'd been mentioned in interviews.

Denies he'd done anything wrong.

And then CNN lost the video and sound at that point, to their surprise. This is a taped statement DeLay had prepared.

Just got the connection back.

Talking about their agenda in Congress.

Says every other "frivolous" accusation against him in the past has been dismissed, and so will this one.

4. It's a sham. Charge can't hold up. Product of coordinated
premeditate campaign led by a partisan fanatic.

Mr. Early is exacting personal revenge.

Man - Hope Earle steps up and nails this idiot.

6. It's a taped press conference from what CNN said, it is not live
Figures, DeLay delays by using tape, too scared to face the press.

He sure is whining and using outrageous hyperbole which tells me the prosecutor has the evidence!

Must be a BushCo Occult Benefit - to get Total Denial, attack the critics, Training

Pathetic. Repubs just keep passing the buck, or trying to do so, an accept responsibility for nothing.

24. Cafferty commenting now.
Mentioned that a week ago, when he and Wolf were talking about whether some of the pork might be taken out of the transportation bill, Wolf had said that DeLay had said there was no pork in the bill, and Cafferty had asked, "Has he been indicted yet?" Cafferty says he'll save that video, though it was only a flip remark, an offhand remark.

Cafferty question of the day -- Should DeLay resign from Congress?

Says they want a trial before the end of the year. Says the judge may throw the case out, but "any fair jury" will find DeLay innocent.

30. A "fair jury" already voted to indict. DeLay's crap-bag lawyer
will always blame everyone else, even the system itself. Just like DeLay.

There is no such thing as responsibility when you get criminals with the level of power achieved by the numerous Republican criminals running the country now.
