Sears up to its eyeballs in DeLay scandal... Boycott Sears!

House Leadership Figurines on Special in Aisle Two

Forgive the serial posts on the same big topic, but one sinister detail just leapt out from the CNN dispatch on the Hammer's day of reckoning, and we had to share it with you:

The indictment accused DeLay of a conspiracy to "knowingly make a political contribution" in violation of Texas law outlawing corporate contributions. It alleged that DeLay's Texans for a Republican Majority political action committee accepted $155,000 from companies, including Sears Roebuck, and placed the money in an account.

That's right . . . including Sears Roebuck. The very same Sears Roebuck behind the Sears American Dream and the Sears Caravan of Caring. The very same Sears Roebuck that, as we reported yesterday, has made the First Lady of the United States a wholly owned subsidiary. All this time, we've been convinced that Wal-Mart is the seat of megaretail evil in our great republic, and in waltzes this Chicago-based purveyor of Dreams and Caring to make the House GOP Leadership its own little version of Sam's Club. And where is Target, the signature blue state megachain? Why, off purchasing itself vanity placement in the New Yorker, of course. Liberal Democratic leaders can't even be bought off by corporate retailers effectively. We guess it's because they've pre-emptively sold themselves out. -- HOLLY MARTINS

1. will he go down.
Ronnie Earle had to be very sure or he wouldn't have moved. We remember the "redistricting"! Heat up the tar, I got the feathers!

18. Oh, I meant Delay.
Ronnie Earle is a good man. He (and I) have been around here a long time. I have been a fan of his for an equal length of time.

4. I won't make you!
But you really should get a credit card from someplace else that fixes cars!

Sears Auto has a very bad reputation.

14. I rarely use them for anything more than brakes or tires
Like about 2 years ago my tires needed replacing and I was short on cash so I went over to sears and put the tires/installation on my charge card.

I mean, if my engine/tranny needed work I'd be going back to dealer and I'd dig into my savings to make the fix happen.

6. Don't give up your charge plate
But as a loyal customer, one who has bought from and enjoyed Sears products for many years, you might have some added credibility to contact them and ask them to quit funding evil and corrupt politicians.

5. Ooh, I don't wanna hear that.
They do so many GOOD things. And if I remember correctly, the kept their national guard employees on their insurance (including the families) while the NG employees were in Afghanistan and Iraq.

I'm pretty sure they are 100% blue.

9. Sears didn't create the system of corruption.
Most definitely, Sears didn't do anything illegal by contributing to Delay. Its what Delay did with it that matters.

Edited on Wed Sep-28-05 04:05 PM by rainbow4321
agreed to "cooperate w/ the prosecution" a few months back. Not that this news made the MSM, they were way to busy with Michael Jackson and reporting live from Aruba. The info was instead usually found buried on Texas news websites (I would find it while reading stuff on mysa.com) I don't know if any of the other 6 companies involved did the same (there were 8 companies in all..)oh, here is another one that cooperated: Diversified Collections Services, Inc
