My apologies to George Carlin, but I am not optimistic about the future
I will quote his rant verbatum because I agree with it.

"You notice who I don't complain about. . .Politicians. Everyone hates politicians. Everyone says they suck. Well, who elected these people? They didn't fall from the sky. They didn't come to us through a membrane from another reality. They comes from American home, American families, American churches, American schools, American society and were elected by American people. This is the best we can do folks. This is the best there is. It's what our system produces. Garbage in, garbage out. If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're going to have selfish ignorant leaders. And term limits aren't going to change anything, you're just going to have a new bunch of selfish ignorant citizens. So maybe it's not the politicians who suck. Maybe something else sucks around. Like the public. Yeah, there's a nice campaign slogan for you. "The Public Sucks, Fuck Hope." Because if it were the fault of these politicians, then where are the bright, honest, intelligent people of conscience that will step in and lead the way and save the day. We don't have people like that in this country. Everyone's at the mall. . .scratching their ass, picking their nose and buying a pair of sneakers with lights in them."

I know it's a comedy routine, but it's true. DeLie leaves, Frist leaves, Boosh* leaves and we'll get something worse. The powers who control the information will spin and lie to make it possible (DieBold, MSM, Faux News). I've always said it's easier being a Republican than a Democrat. Being a Democrat requires thinking. Being a Republican requires self-interested greed!

1. The Bonzo Dog Doo-Da Band said this in a 1970s song

Hey-ho, don't worry
You know you can't win
No matter who you vote for
The government always gets in

Now stop spoiling my fun day! ;)

2. Selof-interested greed requires thinking too !
Seriously. Never assume that your enemy is stupid. That is one of the worst mistakes that I constantly see made around here. Just because a person may orient their talents in a direction that you consider immoral, does NOT mean they are lacking in talent and abilities.

3. As has been said about lawyers and prostitutes and drug dealers....

People tell each other they hate them and everything they stand for. But when they personally get into serious trouble, they run straight for them and will pay or do whatever it takes for their services.

6. I love Carlin, his rants are awesome, BUT...
...can one honestly look at the Clinton years, and compare them to now, and say they were one iota as corrupt and deadly as this illegal administration has been?

There's hope.

10. No the problem is the system shuts good people out
I often get tempted to fall into Carlinesque moods seeing some of the stupid shit that goes on.

But the flip side is there are plenty of good people of integrity out there. DU is a good example, but there are many otehr examples in all walks of life -- and even among different ideologies.

But unfortunately, the system tends to shut them out.

Part of it is the nature of politics. In the system today, you have to eitehr be a Maschocist or have skin as think as Phino hide or be amoral enough to kick somebody in the nuts while shaking their hands.

Sometimes the cream does rise to the top. But more often the cream has better sense than to subject themselves to the mean-spirited circus of modern politics.
