An epiphany.

Well, deep down I knew this would happen. I live in DC and out of all my friends that live throughout the state of CA, only 2 I knew were actually going to vote. The rest were either apathetic to the whole thing (to my dismay) didn't know what to think.

I figured the media storm was decidedly in favor of the Gubernator. More time and praise was given to him that any other 10 candidates combined.

People like star quality and Arnie has it. My epiphany isn't new, but it is appropriate in this instance. People just don't care enough to check things out for themselves, learn what the issues really are, vote, criticize and critique. As political animals it seems Republicans are more fervent, driven and apt to actually do somehting and band together for a greater cause than their democratic counterparts.

Look at the way they handled Whitewater, Monica Lewinsky, the impeachment, and even the pot smoking way back when. They have a louder voice, it's even evident when you watch many of them on tv, arguing louder but not better.

The pendulum in this country has shifted to the right, and while it may not be as high in its arc as it was a year or so ago, it still hasn't reached the middle yet I feel.

Not trying to start a flamwar or anything...these are just my thoughts. Lets hope that 2004 will be the year of the Democrat.

I think the baby boomers will tend toward becoming more conservative as they get older... you know the type, hippies in the 60s and now their getting called grandma and pa and doing the church thing --- thinking about mortality. Yup, they definately get more religious at the very least.

2. No, I think people elected the Populist words he used. The

way he presented himself you'd think he had a long record of success with Populist and Progressive issues. You'd think he was against the status quo and the established "same-old, same-old". he represented himself this way and many people bought into it. Of course he lied to them and they'll find out that he's surrounded himself with Pete Wilson's people and the usual Republican operatives and things won't really change, they'll just accelerate the siphoning of money into the pockets of their cronies.

But it sends a message! People want change, and they want Populist values! That means they don't want same-old, same-old DNC/DLC Democrats.

Guess we better pay attention to that, right?

3. They control the media

So it's all Christian white-male pain on TV. Everyone else gets lullabye and appeasement marketed at them. More Exxon commercials with black, female babies romping through the green unspoiled prairies while watching Will & Grace to keep us comfy and proud of our 'system'. That and endless Arnold "celebrity" coverage just before the election.

Despicable, espeically after they conned us into a racist war.

None of this will change until we split the media companies up and re-regulate them.
