More march pictures!
It took days to get them back from the developer.

Progmom, MrScorpio, my back, and Johnnyblitz-waiting for the march to get underway

DU's defenders at the Bush Coronation-together again! MrScorpio, Brainshrub, and myself

TheWitch represents for those not able to come

VelmaD in front of the banner. She makes some damn fine brownies!

Lotsa DUers-forgive me, names have slipped my memory...

More DUers-that's Mohinoaklawnillinois in front of the Peace is Patriotic sign

So the craziest thing happened-in the crowd I ran into 2 of my friends! They were standing right next to the DU group, just by accident. There's some serious odds against that...

Saturday night at the Prince Cafe-me, undergroundpanther, her beau

Tk2kewl (standing) and DynamoHum

Undergroundpanther and her SO, Tk2kwel and his SO

Me and my SO. The Prophetess was taking all the pics, so she wasn't in any!

6. WARNING! During the anti-Vietnam War Movement, the FBI...
the CIA, local police Red Squads and no doubt other members of the secret-police alphabet soup (Army CIC, Navy ONI etc.) routinely used photo processors as informants: if you took your demo pics to a processor, the spooks either got copies or at least got to see the work. So if the delay you encountered getting your pictures back from the developer was unexpected -- especially if it was rationalized by some unlikely excuse ("we gave your work to the wrong customer") -- a detour through spookdom is probably what really happened.

During the Vietnam Era (especially after Nixon became president) what the spooks were doing was building a roster of everyone who ever participated in an anti-war demo. Presumably the rosters were being assembled in anticipation the president would invoke a "national emergency" under the McCarran Act -- thereby permitting the authorities to round up all anti-war protesters (and Countercultural "subversives" in general) and confine us all in concentration camps. The roster-building effort was huge: colleges cooperated by allowing the secret police to search the photographic archives of student publications, and even some mainstream media -- newspapers and television stations -- cooperated by allowing their photographers' work to be so monitored.

If the photo-searching tactic is again being employed (this time probably by scanning the photos into a computer), it means the concentration-camp rosters are probably again being assembled -- which means we are in even greater danger than we imagine. All the more so since Bush seems ever more defiant -- ever more willing to strip off the velvet glove of "compassionate conservatism" to bare the fascist fist beneath.

(If I misunderstood -- if the delay getting back the pictures really was routine -- this is still a vital chapter of Vietnam Era history, relevant in the present for obvious reasons.)

7. Actually it was an anticipated delay
We wanted to use throwaway cameras at the march in case something happened, so that we wouldn't lose our digital camera.
Nothing on the rolls of any real consequence, other than to documane the march. Thanks for the concern though!

21. It was also nice to meet you, Prophetess.
We had a blast but had to give up before the march was over. The poor boys kept repeating the mantra, "Can we go back to the hotel yet?" At least I am exposing them to this stuff at a young age. The teacher made my oldest give a report when he got back to school. She was very excited that he got to go!

30. Hi EstimatedProphet!
You have the only picture of me (that I've seen) that is not completely scary (far left in pic 5). I generally avoid cameras for a reason. It was very nice to meet you - we tried to join in the fun at Cafe Prince, but we waited 1/2 hour for a cab and then the driver had no clue where it was (though I gave the address). We ended up at RFD's instead. Perhaps it was meant to be ... I just quit smoking, so a hookah bar might have been a little too tempting and I ran into my senatorial candidate (in my sig line) at RFD's. Looks like I missed a great time though!
