So DeLay is running next year for another stint...

What kind of time frame are we looking at here? Will charges be formally filed? How long until he goes in front of a judge? What about a trial?

It seems to me this process could last up to a year which would NOT be good for DeLay. How can he 'fight' this while running for office? He'd have to find a way to get exonerated in the next six months in order to get clear of it so he could win and I've heard he's lost a lot of support in TX by voters. Even without this hanging over his head, his chances of winning weren't too good to begin with.

2. Since most of the judges in Texas have been

bought and paid for by Republicans, I wonder if Tommy Boy will just ride right through a trial. Maybe if there is a jury trial in Austin our chances are better that he will indeed be found guilty. But, I put nothing past the Republicans in Texas.

He'll plea nolo contendere and that'll be the end of his career.

If he says he won't run for re-election like Cunningham has done, then he and the Rethugs don't want him to resign as that might help a Dem get his seat more than for him to wait for another election to do so, if the laws requiring special elections are anything like those in California. We're trying to force Cunningham to resign before February to force a special election for his seat with no primaries, no runoffs and just a plurality needed to win the seat. That's probably Busby's best shot at winning this seat.

Maybe we should start pushing for New Orleans "immigrants" to Texas to move to Delay's district to help oust him or whoever runs later!

After 2006, if he doesn't get put in prison, he'll go back to being a full time "Hot Tub Tom" as Randi puts it!
