2. Absentee ballots are counted first ...
... which is why the reporting precincts is so low.

4. Are they using electro-fraud machines in LA?
Hard to believe LA would go 'Puke.

5. From Jane in Berkeley:
An email from Jane Stillwater:

I have hot election gossip (maybe) from the Golden State, you guys. CLG News sez that Chris Matthews has declared The Groper as winner. However... Our bookkeeper went to her polling place at 7 am this morning and it wasn't even open. AND when it did open, the Alameda County Diebold machines didn't even work. 12 people's votes were apparently not counted in the time that she was there.

But wait! It gets juicier!

I got one of those taped calls from the Firefighters' union saying that if I had encountered voting descrepancies, I was to call 877-0321-VOTE. Well. Patriot that I am, I called them to report our bookkeeper's sad tale. And the person who answered the phone told me this: "We've been getting calls all night from everywher in the state from people who said that their machines didn't work. IN ADDITION, people have been complaining that even though they had gotten in line long before the polls closed, they had been turned away at 8 pm." Shades of Florida!

"Where are you located," I asked the person on the other end. "We have a big call-central in Los Angeles." Los Angeles? Sounds more like Miami to me! This election could well be null and void.

Regards, Jane Stillwater, Berkeley, CA

6. I heard on the radio
Poll workers were checking people's ballots as they turned them in and if they didn't vote yes/no, they told them they had to go back and vote FOR the recall. I heard it on a sports station in L.A., so I can't vouch for their accuracy.

8. Oh, I believe it.
How much are we supposed to endure? This is the THIRD GOP coup d'etat: Bush in 2000, the murder of Wellstone and stolen senate races in 2002, and this one in California.

7. 1.2% reporting in LA
Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 12:17 AM by Il_Coniglietto
About 22 precincts. The turnout percentage has gone up to 9.9% from 9.6% earlier. Anyone know how that works? Is it just estimated?
