to be down to 150K, and I can't believe that the remaining 95% of the precincts are going to go 51% Yes on the recall (which is how the first 5% of the precincts went), and that's going to be at least 1.5 mil votes, so if it goes 60% No or more in LA (which isn't a stretch), that's a win for the No vote.

if you voted in orange county they will not be reporting until tomorrow morning. it's a precaution because of the new, untested voting machines.

as for Davis making up ground, probably not. The north is where most of the really strong support was focused and most of that has come in already (san fran, etc.). So Cal was where a large chunk of the pro-recall support was rooted.

It's time to take a step back and to let go of the straws. There won't be another successful recall so the next chance for the state to vote in a new governor will be in 2006.

45. The "missing names" on the rosters was a biggie

We had people calling in all day saying they registered to vote and that their name was not on the roster AND the pecinct workers were not letting them vote. We told all of them that the precinct workers were not authorized to determine who was or was not an eligible voter and INSIST they be given a provisional ballot. I wonder how many people got discouraged and just gave up?

Also, a report from Kern County, there were no voting booths. All votes were out in the open, i.e., your neighbor could see who you were voting for and vice versa.

One last thing. The media was calling the election "over" by 6:00 pm (with the echo chamber here on DU dutifully chiming in) with 2 hours to go before the polls closed.

Just wait until election day 2004. The DU doom and gloomers will all be calling the eleciton by noon, California time for Bush. Can't you just wait? :mad:
