The REAL Reason the Repubs got behind this ignoramus
Pretty simple.

They want the Democratic nominee to spend money trying to keep California in 2004. No, they won't win it, but they'll force a costly challenge, and Bush will have 3-4x the war chest that the Democrats will. If the Dems have to burn extra cash just to keep California, you can kiss Florida, Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania goodbye.

1. Yeah, and they want the Democrats
to have to spend so much money on the prez candidate that they don't have enough left over for Senator Barbara Boxer's re-election since she is at the top of their hit list.

2. Dems won't have to spend money
Just remind Californians that Bush represents the establishment and he needs to be "recalled" for the deficits and job losses.
