The scandle that we saw last weekend was timed too late, it was a all or nothing type gamble and it failed. With a scandle like that you need a buffer zone of time in case things go bad, which they did. Now it's nothing but backlash against Davis.

The legislature needs to pass campaign finance reform to get the goddamned money out of the elections and then send the bill to Arnold. I think it's their only hope.

I feel the dirt was not really part of it. Davis' aproval rating was at 27% (something close to that) 6 months ago. I don't care how hard you fight, it is nearly impossible to win coming off numbers like that. It wasn't becasue Davis was a democrat. The same thing would happen if a republican was in office with the almost universal disapproval that David had. Voters wanted a change and Arnold was one of the only choices. I'm sure we would be congratulating governor-elect Feinstein if she had chosen to run.

*shrug* I'm not at all convinced it was "timed" in any sense, but if I were running a smear campaign it would have started BEFORE the absentee ballots went out. Are the Democratic party strategists paid to pick their lint? If any of the allegations lead to an indictment, then it could mean an impeachment or bode well for another recall.

Things went bad from the moment Mr. Issa turned California into a madcap free-for-all circus. Rather than concentrating on solving crucial state budget issues, the state has engaged in a ridiculous and costly extra election.
