I never believed Judy Miller was about "protecting journalists
sources." You know what I mean. They tried to make her out to be some kind of heroine because she would go to jail rather than give up her source. I think she was just as guilty as her source(s); in other words, it was more like she was part of the crime not just a reporter of circumstances. Anyone else think that she's not the heroine they would have you believe?

2. I know I'm in the minority here...
but I think she's a hero.

The First Amendment is the very foundation of all our freedoms, and I find it chilling that the government can imprison journalists for doing their job.

9. nope
that's silly. She's not "covering up" a crime. She's upholding a long-recognized and long-established tradition of journalists not revealing their sources.

Just because her source is somebody you and I both dislike, it doesn't mean the principle behind her actions is wrong.

The principle of journalistic freedom is much larger than this individual case.

that if the shoe was on the other foot, that they wouldn't be singing like a canary? the rules only exist to be broken by the rethugs and no one else. you know, those two sets of rules...

3. Only the NYT owners would have you believe that garbage.
Even their editorials were feeble, contrained by the knowledge that if they tried too hard, they would lose the remaining shreads of reputation (one sullied, warped, bent, spindled, mutilated, sliced, and fractured by the likes of Jayson, Bumiller and Miller herself)

4. I got that same feeling
also the whole Novak tantrum on CNN was great to watch but.......how timely as well. Seems he got out of the frying pan pretty quick, had he not thrown that fit he would have had a lot of questions to answer over and over again. It seems like the Bush regime pattern. :hide:

5. No matter her motivation,
the premise was correct. Better to go to jail and protect sources then to stay free and reveal them.
