Hark and alert! Citizens of California, do this BBV diagnostic
I believe that according to California law, the printout of the results at each polling place must be posted on the polling place after the polls close. It is very important that this printout go up BEFORE the results are sent in by modem or whatever.

Go to your polling place. Get your friends to go to theirs.

Report this (here or at http://www.BBVreport.org):
1) Is the report posted at the polling place?
2) What are the numbers?

Also, find out the numbers from the poll book -- the number of voters who checked in to vote.

These numbers need to be gathered up to compare with the reported results (remember that absentees will figure in)

Usually it is the above methods that show machine miscounts.

Thanks,

Bev Harris

1. Does this go for Texas too Bev ?
I have emailed the SOS of Tx several times about Diebold and have been totally ignored.

4. Don't know. Most states don't require it, but it's a very good procedure
I believe the results must stay up for seven days.

Anyone listening, you have a day or two, but this is extremely important. You aren't going to hear about problems with the machines on election night -- the miscounts show up when anomalies appear with the polling place count, and with the number of voters who signed in.

There is a new forum up at http://www.BBVreport.org to compile this data.

I read that and I find myself overwhelmed with pity. Here's a kick to help the shattered remains of the cause. :(

that you checked and the polling place location. I'll enter it at the BBVreport forum if you like.

It is the law, but as I understand it, Dr. Dill's webmaster, who voted in Marin County, was told they didn't plan to post it.

This posting of the printed report, which should be printed BEFORE modeming in results, is actually quite an important audit and security measure. Bypassing it does not bode well (and may fuel litigation, in combination with other omissions).

In fact, the reason I've been told not to worry my head about the GEMS hack is because that report is posted at the polling place and is run BEFORE results are sent into GEMS. So if it is run afterwards, or if it isn't run at all, and if it is not posted, that means the GEMS results become suspect.

10. Send the details to bev@blackboxvoting.com
same goes for anyone who wants more privacy

Thank you very much for this. You know, all the election officials said their procedure of posting this report, "it's the law" cancelled out the risk of the GEMS hack. What a joke.

And the touch screens just sitting there with an unlocked door!!!

11. That there is some CRAZY CRAP!
Next time, bring an empty briefcase and walk away with your own Accuvote souveniers.

Oh well, at least the guy (was he the janitor?) was polite and accomodating. Maybe he's been burglarized 10 times in the last year, and figures it doesn't pay to be proactive or confrontational.

It'll be great.

20. VERY interesting.
While I suspect the recall would have passed, it is more than strange that results from Democratic diebold counties were delayed. Seems to me, they wanted to make sure the tallies didn't need some serious "tweaking" before they were released. This things definitely stinks! I'll bet many lawsuits will be filed and hopefully this will keep the electronic "voting" issue alive with LOTS of new evidence.

28. If I were in Calif...
...I would take a camera along, and take photos to document the fact that there is NO report posted. Maybe a video cam that has time stamp on it or something. Or hold a copy of today's newspaper in front of the place where the report should be posted to show the date. Maybe someone has a better way of "timestamping" a photo.

30. Sorry I couldn't post until now.
I couldn't get to my polling place until 10:30 this morning PDT, which was the Chamber of Commerce in Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo County. Several precincts voted at this location. There were no reports posted and the building was locked. I peeked through the glass into the foyer and although the signs for the precincts were still up, there were no reports. Now I don't know how long they are supposed to be up.

What should we do, if anything can be done?
