Trio "marry" each other in Netherlands.
http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_1550100.html

A Dutchman says he is legally 'married' to two women at the same time.

Victor de Bruijn, 46, from Rosendaal, and his wife Bianca, 31, have signed a co-habitation contract with their friend Mirjam Geven, 35.

Although bigamy is forbidden in Holland, there is nothing to stop Mr de Bruijn living with two women in this way.

He told Het Nieuwsblad: "For me it was wedding, I love both women."

Victor and Bianca met divorcee Mirjam, from Middelburg, in an internet chatroom. Two months later, she moved in with them and they built a bigger bed.

Victor added: "We belong together and not only for the sex. There is no jealousy because both women are bisexual. If they had been both hetero, it would be more difficult."

Posted without comment on my part. - for now.

29. Because the legal parts of marriage relate to 2 people
When one is in hospital and unable to make decisions on their care, it provides for one other person to have the right to decide treatment, not 2 (who might disagree). And so on.

Sure, they can draw up contracts specifying legal relationships between them all. But these will have to take into account 3 poeple, not 2, and so may well have to be different from marriages. And they don't have to be having sex with each other, or love each other, to draw up contracts. Also, a marriage confers certain rights on a couple (eg exemption from inheritance tax) - and why should 3 people get extra rights, just because they have sex together?

27. Unfortunately, will be a weapon in the hands of the RWers
who oppose gay marriage. "What will be next? A threesome? A marriage with a dog (the four paws variety).

In reality, though, it has been shown that in places like Utah, where supposedly the women are happy with a bigamist and are "great friends" in reality they are miserable. For those of us who are in a committed relationship, we do like to the the one in the eyes of our beloved.

Yes, on the surface, it is no one's business but in reality, I have to wonder, human nature being what it is.

In reactionary cultures, however, where there is no such thing as a consenting wife, women do like to have more to share the burden of a non-stop lusty provider.

Maybe in his alcoholic stupor he heard about this and fantasized that he was Victor.

28. It will be used to make gay marriage harder to legalize.
For my self, I don't really care what they did or do. My interest is in the political effect.

One of the arguments that RWs make is the slippery slope one that gay marriage will lead to group marriage. This will be used as proof that it does. That forces the left to have to defend, not only gay marriage, but group marriage as well - or to decide that the political cost is too high and drop the issue. But dropping the issue divides the left as many gays will feel abandoned. So politically I do not view this "marriage" as happy news.
