Edited on Fri Sep-30-05 06:40 AM by fujiyama
It's stunning, how even now, we have shit like Bennet making ridiculous comments.

And I just read on Kos about that ass hole Charles Murray, basically saying the blacks in New Orleans were too lazy to get jobs. Of course this fuckin racist was the author of the notorious "Bell Curve", a book I believe gave racism a false intellectual justification and resurgence.

This shit can't go unanswered. The WSJ editorial board is made up by a bunch of obviously racist, classist, motherfuckers.

It's obvious that in recent weeks, racism is getting more and more blatant.

I'm so fed up with this!

1. Rep. Rush (Dem) introduced a resolution into the House yesterday to
condemn Bennet comments. Others spoke against his comments also.

6. How about taking off the airwaves?
Condemn yes but do more and get him out of the public eye or ear.

3. I'm not sure "amazing" is the right word....
more like DISGUSTING!

The repugs can't bring themselves to blame * for NO so instead they make themselves feel better by blaming the victims. The victims are too lazy to get jobs. Jobs that would let them get cars and enough cash for a motel room so as they could save themselves...

No inkling that just maybe * is doing a really bad job... and maybe the economy is not doing that great.....

and maybe blaming the victims is the last resort of the stupid and the insecure!

DISGUSTING! DISGUSTING! DISGUSTING!

4. I agree
I couldn't quite get the wording right for the thread so I changed it.

It seems that with this administration, it's OK to hate again. There is a tacit approval of this behavior. They like people being afraid. That's why hate crimes have gone up - not only against Arabs, but Jews as well. Racism is getting more blatant and the racists have become more vocal.

7. It never really went away..
... and trust me it is at the root of much of the Republican success at the polls.

Now that they are "in power", people feel more and more emboldened to say what they really think.

And one last thing. Folks like to think racism is largely a Southern thing. I couldn't disagree more. It is everywhere. Everywhere.

12. racism, sexism, homophobia....
it's all out in the open lately. If someone told me back in 2000 that Civil Rights would be under attack 5 years later and that racist attitudes would become mainstream again, I would have laughed in disbelief. We've taken a big collective step backwards in this country and if we don't work our asses off to put a stop to this bullshit right now, it's only going to get worse.

16. regardless of what we do
it will not be enough to keep the racism and hatred from getting worse and worse and..

when the economic and social collapse comes from peak oil/energy absence and contraction of the US economy all sorts of shit will hit the fan. Expect the violence to become endemic. Expect to have to defend yourself and the resources you have.

13. Well, it's not true no matter what the Republicans think
"And I just read on Kos about that ass hole Charles Murray, basically saying the blacks in New Orleans were too lazy to get jobs."

Too bad that idiot has a way of spreading his text all over and I have very little. Living in Houston, I've seen many evacuees taking jobs here, and even on the news they would interview people who were evacuees and saying that they wanted a place to live, to get their kids into school, and to get a job so they could build their lives back.

There may be a small group of people unwilling to work, but that no more reflects on the majority than Timothy McVeigh reflected on white veterans.

14. anti-racism has not been a top priority for awhile/should be THE priority
or this country will fall further and further. If it was, John Roberts would not have been confirmed or at least no democrat would have voted for confirmation, given his enabling of Reagans racist policies. But instead to their eternal shame, 21 Demos voted for him.

Keeping up the veil takes energy. The RW is experiencing signifigant turbulence right now and can't bring themselves to do so consistantly.

20. I've been hearing it for years from my right-wing well-to-do relatives.
I'm just surprised that it's taken so long for it to reach the mainstream. I mean, these white people DO NOT BELIEVE they're racist.

Yet, my relatives have made comments that black people are more criminally prone which is why they are more of them in prison. I went down to give a ride to someone who had been caught for DUI and was with a white friend, and we were both shocked how the prison attendants were very respectful of her, and how denigrating they were to the hispanic Mexican-American immigrant types and blacks. I'm talking about the people who came to spring their friends and loved one, not the men who were in jail. I told this to my relatives and they all SHOUTED me down! I've never felt so humiliated. And every time I think about that event, I grow to resent them even more.

21. are you kidding. 6 months ago i had two people tell me they
had a right to be a racist. they are allowed to be a racist. by gosh. ok ya, i say.... you have the right, but why.......? makes you the pig.

after election confederate flags on bumper stickers multiplied hugely. at the christian school my kids were going to i was parking behind. that is when i pulled the kids out. nov 20. racism has been embraced. they have the right. this administration created it with their hat e and divisiveness. we did this four decades ago. reared it ugly head again. happens every so many decades. gotta put it down. they are such fools, i think this will be easier than 60's. we learned so much then. it is with women too. though, equally. now tell me

how can any man tell me he has it over me on the decisions i should make in my life. a man cannot do that. once in freedom, empowerment, it cant be otherwise. they just dont get it. but we all will, in time.

my repug husband heard bennett comment at the end of jon stewart. i told him, listen listen....... after he heard, that is pretty damn bad, he says. this man found black line two generations up, a couple years ago. his father is from new orleans, lol lol so much black blood, easy to see, and the asshole didn't know. oil man, catholic from midland. found out about the same time, his two youngest sons, my husbands brothers, were gay. bunch of texas from midland. i am the california, my mouth drops often,......told mother in law a decade ago, i was going to become a hippie. she was appalled.

22. It seems to me they have simply stopped using the code words
they used to use to signal their racist supporters and are now stating their racist crap outright. I am wondering if it is because they have now lost all but their racist base and in order to hold them they can't use the code words anymore, it is too subtle for the knuckledraggers.
