Thinking about when the Allies reached the death camps in German, Poland, etc. There are stories about them letting the prisoners have at it with some of the guards, and yes there was violence. When people are beat down and abused it's natural to want "revenge," or justice. I don't think it has anything to do with the color of anyone's skin. AND I think we are all quite suseptible to making assumptions when the discussion of race comes up.

Back in the early to mid 90's, however, they also carried the National Alliance program American Dissident Voices. These guys are white supremacists based in West Virginia, and some of their members got involved in a terrorist network that robbed armored cars, assassinated talk radio host Alan Berg, and were setting up a guerilla training center for some future race war.

Robert Mathews, the guy who founded The Order, is revered as a folk hero by white supremacists. A completely objective look at this guy reveals an earnest if somewhat naive man who selflessly gave his time and money to those who needed a leg up. His favorite meal was apple pie washed down with milk. He drove a Chevrolet. He loved Scottish folk music. His dream was to settle his family on his own farm in rural Washington. On the outside, Mathews looked like an all-American boy.

But Mathews also wanted to rid America of Jews and non-white ethnicities. His followers included Klansmen, neo-Nazis, counterfeiters, survivalists, military veterans, and ex-cons. His favorite books were Which Way Western Man?, written by a disillusioned integrationist and labor activist who embraced the white supremacist message, and The Turner Diaries, a novel of a fictional race war that some considered to be a secret blueprint for assassination and bomb-making. His dreamworld was held together with a network of fragile truces, collective paranoia, and outright lies.

I recommend reading The Silent Brotherhood if you can find it at your local bookstore; it's a great synopsis of the history of The Order and a look at white racialists in America during the 80's. Disturbing at times, but well worth the read.
